Thanks for the video! Great job on the bike. I got your ebook on Amazon. Just one question: is the top canopy structure necessary for rigidity? It would just be one person (me) riding the bike, so I would prefer to cut corners whenever possible. Thanks again.
@truthseeker209 No, the canopy is only for shade... not structure. As I said in the book, if I were doing it again I would add MORE rigidity to the front section where the cranks are mounted... the rear assembly could have been less so. Remember, I am not saying this is THE way to build the bike.... I want my exerience to help you come up with methods and ideas that are even better. Don't forget to check out my RobotBASIC videos.
@john30340 Thanks very much. Keep in mind that you can always add sections of two by fours to your bike. Go to instructablesdotcom and search for recumbents, You will find several bikes made from wood, or with wood added to the metal frame.
I have an idea for your next project. What if you made a 4-wheel cart. Kinda like a go-cart but to make it go what if you put a power wheel gear motor on the back wheel, run the wires down the middle of the cart. Use the front and reverse switch on a make shift panel and put the batteries under the seat. to make a electric 4-wheel cart.
I don't need the tent and I'm not gonna use it for everyday riding. I'm going to use it for pulling a small trailer. Will that same frame and style work for a small load?
@Fersomling The Rhoades Car is great man-powered vehicle and I would recommend one - but I had fun building mine and after what I learned, I think a second model with some appropriate changes could be really great. All depends on if you love building things.
Using PVC is great for building ONE bike for individuals with no machine shop etc. but if you want something mass produced for Pakistan I don't think its your best choice. Maybe you could just consider providing standard bicycles for them. Child "trailers" are available and then can be used for packages, groceries, etc. Might be a cheap option for them.

you don't have to make them that heavy. with the technology of today you could use plastic for the frame.
