  • Most peculiar editing in the Malta "phase": Frequent intermingling of lots of Tunis footage: including Tunisian street scenes, Tunisian street vendors and even one of a man holding a Tunisian newspaper in French titled "Tunis Socialiste".

  • @prxam2 yes agree fully its Tunis

  • nirringrazzjaw l alla li gew l inglizi ha nghidlek ghax propja arab konna

  • hekk hu

  • @futuramark part of the Malta footage is in Tunis

  • @futuramark what?? the people in arab dress were probably tunisians, or syrians, who fled to malta. and even so, that doesn't make them less valuable.

  • @kalindoscopy actually, see below: the editor of the film included tunisian footage in the malta sequence. bravi l-inglizi eh, they can't even edit properly.

  • thanks for sharing!

  • The print quality is astounding considering it is over 70 years old and taken with technology available then!

If the print cannot be obtained/bought, maybe a digital copy can be made and archived?

  • As a Maltese citizen I agree perfectly with fia416 - priceless!

It is not uncommon to find pictures of the Theatre in Republic Street, but video is truly rare - this is the first I've seen. As for the rest, most records were paintings, very few pictures. This video footage is something to be forwarded to the Maltese authorities for preservation, being unique in its nature!

  • Wonderful! Thanks!

  • WOW! one of those women in malta wearing the Ghonella could have been my grand grand mother!
