  • Nowadays kids don't bother with this long and tedious method. They just need to press the g key on their keyboard. Much easier.

  • I liked the bit where the pencil went down and around

  • same whith me when i was at school in yer 1 we ust to wach this in the class room whith all the ufer children and do the movments and rite it in the air

  • i loved the magic pencil!

  • 15 years ago to this day, I was a school kid amongst others in an assembly being instructed by our teacher to copy the movements of the magic pencil with our hands. It would play on a video tape on the roll along TV. We'd all raise our hands and write in thin air.

I just did it then, it's strangely addictive. :')

  • omfg, they played this at school, my fave is punks spelling spot :P

  • OMG I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS FOR 20 YEARS!!! OMGOSH! i think i'm getting all emotional! *tear in eye*

  • lol. i watched this all the time, and my handwriting is absolutely horrible.

  • All the way down!

  • I remember my primary putting this on for us to watch XDD

  • GGGgggGGgG!GggG!G!G!Gggg1?

  • god i remember watching this in primary 2 sat crossed legged on the floor in the a/v room

  • I got a slap for asking my teacher for a pen like this one - even though it is now 28 years ago, still think of pens and pencils as turbo Jets that do the jobs that humans can't be bothered. I'm now cross-eyed and have coordination issues, but all worth it for that magic-moon-glowing mission!

  • I used to just focus on the little light; it's a miracle I ever learned to write and spell!

  • MAGIC PENCIL IS AWESOME!!! IT FLOATS AND WRITES ON IT'S OWN!!!!

  • all da way around WOW WOOOOOOO AWESOME

  • all over around, down and around all on my dick!

  • Over and around down and flick!

  • Omg i remeber watching this 8 years ago .. but sadly my handwriteing is really bad...(and my spelling)

  • 32 people like it all the way round, down and around!

  • that's what she said

  • Now that is one catchy tune

  • We used to have to do it with our fingers while watching it xD

  • @beagles32 Did you overdo the 'and flick' bit and hit the person next to you in the face? No matter how many times the teachers told us off, we still did it XD

  • I have a proper memory, like fully formed from being 4 years old (1993) and of me watching it on school floor in class which had these. hard spiky black things in it and i rememebr looking at the clock it was 11:30 and hoping it ran to 12 for lunch. Even trying to avoid doing work at that age.

  • As a kid at school, if we were lucky, we got to watch the video tape of this in classroom or the assemble hall. And when the magic pencil used to appear, teacher asked us to copy the pencil movements with our hand in the air.

It was such good fun, makes me wish I was a kid again :'(

  • G g g g g

  • U added this on my bday

  • I didn't think I remembered this one but when I went onto it I remembered it instantly xD

  • we used to watch this at school when i was about 6...and i used to think christ if u cant do the letter 'g' by now god help you...

  • Haha, I Used To Watch This On Tv When I Was A Kid. It Taught Me To Spell. Things Like This Should Never Die.

  • @efccik It obviously didn't teach you any grammar.

  • @efccik It clearly never taught you not to capitalise the initial of each word in a sentence.

  • @efccik Its a shame it didn't teach you not to capitalise the first letter of every word.

  • @efccik Shame it couldn't teach you correct grammar. You don't need to put a capital letter at the start of every word! Ironic considering you put "Tv" instead of the correct "TV".

  • This is how i learned my letters, I loved magic pencil :)

  • It was maths I needed help with, found all this stuff a piece of p***! lol

  • @RetroGirl1974 numbertime might of been good 4 u !

  • @shebzydon That's Sophie Aldred, who played Ace in Doctor Who.

Quite a claim to fame you have there.

  • @pufferfishish I thought I reckonised her when I watched it once, I saw her on this once when I was ill, and I saw a Documentary on Dr Who previously, and I said "I'm sure that's Ace off Doctor Who!" GO SOPHIE!

  • @MrComedy01 Yeah, she used to present 'Corners'; a programme that answered kids' questions- as well as 'Melvin and Maureen's Music-A-Grams' where she showed off her singing voice. She's great :)

  • all-the-way-round-down-and-around! aah memories of reception :) the ironic thing is, I'm meant to be studying for my English A-level right now...

  • @PCJoejoe haha thanks very much :)

  • The sad thing is that I remember this. Even back then I was confused why shehad to tell us EIGHT times. It took about a year for her to get through the whole alphabet
