Man I miss this; I used to see these guys maybe 3-4 times a year before Seattle's coolest venue changed into a health club; some of the hippest shows ever! My favorite Frisell lineup, and he always plays with great people. This group just had that once in a lifetime chemistry.
I agree about missing this band. He's been doing some gigs with Joey again I think. I loved the earlier version with Hank Roberts, too. I heard him not long ago with Tim Berne and it was just fantastic. Hank's been playing with Bill, too, just not with this band. Bill's my fav. Nobody else like him with all the different facets of his musicianship.
There is one that I can think of off the top of my head and that is the "Live" album. Most of his earlier stuff were with these two, but they were often accompanied by others as well.
Man thats nice stuff. Don't need a million notes--just the right ones. And those guys really feel like a band. Great communication, like Joey G was saying.
This is one of my favorite Frisell compositions, and I've never heard it in a trio setting. I kept checking the running time at the bottom, wondering what was going to happen as it went on, and then around four minutes -- BANG! I love it! Is his amazing version of "Live To Tell" online at all?

Joey Baron is as tight as a crabs ass at low tide

Kermit Driscoil is an amazing bass player, but his tone here is way to abrasive for my taste.
In my opinion, it detracts from the breezy groove of the song.

there is the " live" , for me the best trio group ever heard , and too 2 albums on buster keaton films , great but not so exciting than the live

Frisell is amazing. Really his own man...he marches to no one else's beat.
What's up with this guitar? W/ tele neck pickup? Gibson vol and tone knobs...weird shape.
Man of many guitars. You get the sense this guy could pick up a K-mart guitar and get the same tone.
Phenomenal phrasing and fluidity.
Check the break on this tune at about 3:45.
He's got this patented way of splitting the head of a tune wide open and letting everything spill out in this screaming emotional way.

One of the great trios. Aspiring bass players listen to all the space that Kermit Driscoll uses and how he plays off of everything Joey and Bill do.

Beautiful. After all these year this is still my favorite setting for Bill. The telepathy between Kermit and Joey is scary. I miss this band.
