  • It looks to me like the "child" in the front facing car seat was not strapped in properly. The belts holding my kids to their seat never have that much slack to pull like yours did

  • 2groomers: Your comment has been removed. No more paranoid spam please.

  • 2groomers: There are no facts or real life experience supporting your ignorant and paranoid statements. Thousands of children die each year in US in traffic accidents and tens of thousands are hospitalized. Children suffocating in their rear facing car seat is the last thing to worry about.

Any more of your ignorant poorly researched nonsense comments will be removed. You sure are a great resource for children's safety..... Good luck with that asteroid in your back yard BTW.

  • That's Bull! A Parent should Always be in VIEW of their Child! Don't try to weazel out of the known facts that children have choked and even Died because they could not see the child because he was facing AWAY from the Parent! It is the MOST idiotic law to come out regarding the child's safety! Parents need to meet with those who determined this bogus claim! It;s OUR childrens' Safety!

  • @2groomers People who choke on food or whatever might not say any words, but they do make sounds that can´t be mistaken. Besides this, you are supposed to keep your eyes on the road and not the child. If you do want to have a look at your child, get a mirror. You can buy mirrors so you can see children in their rearfacing seats. YOUR children depend on YOUR decisions and they count on you to keep them safe.

  • @2groomers

Don't feed your child in the car seat. Why would a child over one years old be in more harm than one younger than 12 months old to sit rear facing.

  • @2groomers Get a mirror and do the right thing.

  • 2grooomers: A child could theoretically choke on anything. An asteroid could also land in your backyard this afternoon. Anything is possible which doesn't mean it's likely or something to worry about.

Children have been rear facing since 1965 in Sweden. Our strong recommendation is rear facing until age 4 or longer. We have yet to have one single case of children dying from choking in the back seat during the past 45 years

Worried about choking? Look for that asteroid as well

  • fiction, my eye! There has been reports where babies were chocking and turning black and blue, luckily another sibling was in the back to see it and call attention to his mother! I am a mother, so don't tell me this is fiction. If any of those nuts who passed this stupid law had something grave like this happen to their little one, they would think twice before putting through this stupid and DANGEROUS "law".!

  • @2groomers

I have seen several dead people in my life. They become completely pale and also cyanotic. I have never seen black in the early stages. Put a mirror up. Some of them have been crashtested and approved for car travel. Facts and the advise not to turn children forwardfacing before age two in the USA and before age 4 in Europe is based on actual car crashes

  • 2groomer: Your comment is ignorant and based on fiction and events which are so rare tehy are irrelevant Rear facing is 500 % safer, that's five times safer, compared to forward facing in any situation.

Pointing to accidents which are incredibly rare and almost impossibly likely to happen show your very limited knowledge of car seat safety.

  • this doesn't show a child in the back seat. facing backwards. Children forced to have their child facing the rear of the car doesn't makes sense! There have been children who were chocking and I believe a child had died from suffocation while in her car seat and the mother could not see her because the baby faced backwards..facing the rear. So the mother could not see her from her rear view mirror. These crazy laws keep changing, and this one does NOT make sense and is DANGEROUS!

  • Currently the Radian XTSL is the only carseat - that I know of - that has a rear-facing limit of 45lbs.

  • Your 4-year son would easily fit in a Swedish rear facing seat. These seats are unique and allow rear facing weight of 55 lbs (25 kg), have tall seat shells and fit fine in a mid size car regardless of nationality.

Seats such as Britax Multi Tech and Britax Two-Way can keep kids comfortably rear facing to age 5-6 and a height of about 125 cm (50 inches.) A 4-year old is fine in a high back booster seat but rear facing is still far safer even at this age.

  • First off...how the hell are you going to keep a baby in a rear facing car seat until the age of 5?....doesn't make sense....my son is almost 4 and is in a booster seat with the back attached to it...there is NO way in hell that he would be able to fit in a rear facing car seat...

  • But they are 2 dif car seats in this video??? That makes no sense.

  • Why are you people arguing when all the data and all the research proves that front facing has a 75% greater chance of death or serious injury! You can be a "better safe than sorry" person, or a "so what, nothings gonna happen" person. The latter should NEVER become parents!

  • @ImGma

EXACTLY. It is also interesting that at least one person repeats the word "FACT" over and over again. "FACT" means there is PROOF. PROOF is research papers and statistics. But we haven´t been presented to any yet. I would like to see the stats on how many children have died by choking while seated in a rearfacing carseat. i would also love to see the research papers done on this.

  • These are Swedish car seats, safest in the world since they allow rear facing to 55 lbs, have tall seat shells and are easy to install. The seat IS tethered correctly.

A rear facing car seat installed in front seat with airbag deactivated by switch or key is as safe as the rear. This has been shown by research and real life experiences ages ago.

Pastchrono, please explain what you mean. Your comment makes no sense.

  • not to mention the car seats are NOT the same

  • @behopeful4today What difference does it make honestly. The head, arms, legs and everythingelse that doesn´t get caught by the car seat shell or the harness will fly forward no mater what forwardfacing configuration you use. As a matter of fact, a forwardfacing harnessed seat is more likely to injure the child´s neck among others than a booster

  • yeah do you see how that car seat isnt tethered properly?

  • @behopeful4today

If you look hard enough that it is properly tethered. The tether straps (two) are routed and crossed underneath the front seat and attached to the front seat runners or the seat bight.
