@missAlessa2009 Haha yup. I thought Yang Yilin's Moulin Rouge music at the Beijing Olympics was mighty original, until I heard the exact same piece in the background of the 03 or 04 US nationals.
A short neck? What on earth is this idiot on about? Who is he, anyway? I wish the BBC had covered this as they have commentators who have a lot of experience and do background research into each gymnast which means the commentary is informed and interesting.
It's a shame for Armi but she did look very upset and her coach was right not to force her to carry on as she might have hurt herself.
Emily Armi probably just had what troubled me when I was a serious athlete: She's too hard on herself. She messes up once, tries to get herself back together, but falls again and her confidence is just shattered. Especially when you mess up like that on an international stage with cameras in your face.
Since when did a "short neck" become an asset in gymnastics?!?! This commentator needs another profession..... 0.o.... Izurieta (hope I spelled that right) was a joy to watch on floor. I love these gymnasts with long lines. So pretty.... even if all the moves are the same.
Wow, my coach would never have let me just quit in the middle of a routine unless I was seriously hurt and needed to be hauled out on a stretcher. I'm stunned. You NEVER see that at a senior level competition. I could understand her being upset if she'd had a couple of big misses, but it was the beginning of her routine. She'd hardly done anything before she'd burst into tears. Wow. You have to learn to suck it up and keep going at this level. You cannot just give up like that.
Point well taken. I'm only commenting on what I can see here. There does seem to be something very wrong, beyond simply her failure to get her routine started correctly. It's so puzzling because it doesn't look like she was hurt at all. I hope, for her sake, that it isn't what it looked like--that she just quit her routine after a miss. 'Cause she won't go far on the senior circuit with that approach. But you're right. I don't know the whole story.
@intldawn You don't know what happened before this competition. I had to pull from a competition once right in the middle of it because I was really upset that my Grandma had just died. My coach understood that I couldn't perform my best with being so upset, and she said I could just try again next time. It wasn't a senior comp. but the same idea applies.
@missAlessa2009 I see your point, but you don't know what happened before this competition either. What you described is an extenuating circumstance, much like what I outlined above. In any case, it's very unusual to see this happen at this level. There are many cases of athletes performing in the wake of serious tragedy. Joannie Rochette at last year's Olympics after her mother died and Lilia Podkopayeva in the 1996 Olympics after her grandmother died, to name a couple.
im not sure why spain gymnasts wear sleeveless but i know some of the others that wear long sleeved ones roll up their sleeves during competition what do u think looks best
They didn't always. Look at Spain in the 2000 Olympics. I'm not sure when the change occurred, if it's universal for the Spanish gymnasts, or if it's just a personal choice.
Sacramones performance was terrible during the olympics and was the reason why Team USA lost. With that kind of performance and still made it to the national team, I wonder how many coaches did she have to sleep with in order to get the spot. Her ass is so fat, I think her ass is at least 20 pounds extra compared to her teammates. That was why she brought down Team USA. Stupid bitch should go to Jenny Craig. Alicia will go down as the worst, and most disgraceful gymnast in Olympic history.
Um, #1, you are disgraceful for putting someone down for moves I'm pretty sure you could never do in your life. Yeah, she messed up, but she wasn't the only reason they lost.
P.S. - She wasn't fat. And are you really this immature at 34?
Sacramone proved to be a leader time and again even in 07 when her floor clenched Gold. Yes she messed up. But Johnson fell on beam at 07 Worlds and they still won. ALL of them had subpar performances somewhere in the team final. Its not all Sacramone's fault. Lets not forget that we won a silver. Not lost a gold. We were reigning silver medalists from 2004. And She wasnt fat at all. She was very fit. Your an ass plain and simple and real gymnastics fans wouldnt listen to you to save our lives!
Stop it and leave her alone , how many times you will spam the net with your hatred toward a girl cause she fell from an apparatus like every other super elite gymnast , Korbut fell , Nellie Kim fell , Nadia fell , Shapshnikova fell , Khorkina fell , etc
Great video, If you need any help getting your videos or channel exposed, i came across a service at thetubeviews . net it has helped 5 of my videos get ranked on the first page

@bubblesandbackflips A girl in my gym has the same music as Nastia Liukin. There's only so much music to chose from; repitition is common.

Izurieta of Spain has an amazing line and elegant, expressive dance. I can't wait to see more of her (on one of her better days).

Sleeveless leos always look out-of-place in competition to me...

it's true they are not that appropiate.

The Spanish girl has lovely presentation. She could be really something with difficulty and cleaner form.

I agree, she's very different, looks tall and elegant in that routine, has potential.
