@xandi911 I think the sound you hear is called synchro mesh. I'm not sure what it is but I don't care as I don't have the car anymore. Sounds like the gears are grinding. All I know is my 6 speed manual on my Supra doesn't make that sound and I can shift as fast as I can.
@xandi911 Not sure what you mean. Does your temp. gauge move? Consider buying a large top mount intercooler or maybe a front mount. This video was taken of my STi when it was stock. I think APS makes a nice top mount and front mount. I had the enlarged top mount before switching to the FM. The top mount is tricky to install because it is so big.
@zweb620 no he shouldnt, each car has what is called fuel cut, the sti is somewhere around 6700-6800 rpms, anything above that is worthless, its basically like just revving up your motor, you aren't gaining any power
if you watch the speedo during 5th its actually not too too short, but yea the 6dpeed tranny in the stis are short ratio so the gears do seem really short, 06-07 sti is my dream car :-) dangit for them being so expensive oh well ill get one eventually

yes its call the cobb access port runs around $600. there are 2 stages stage 2 requires a turbo back ewxhaust. I can sell you mine for cheaper but in order for it to work i need to send proof that my car was totaled and send it to cobb so they can unmarry it from my car. then you plug it into your sti and follow their directions

my WRX trans makes the same 1-2 shift noise, but ive got a light weight flywheel.
ive talked to a few techs and the cause of my shift noise is from the flywheel.

Being able to shift smooth but fast is something that you just need to practice.
Concentrate on smoothness first!
Train your muscle memory to learn exactly where the clutch pedal disengages the clutch.
Don't force the shifter. Let the synchros do their job (you can still shift plenty fast enough doing so).
Once you can shift very smoothly with consistency, slowly work on making the motions faster.
Practice, don't force anything, practice, and more practice!

yes the 07-08 MY STi have the same gearing.

if only the wrx tranny was as strong as the sti tranny.. sti owners would've been switching to them.. like wrx owners switch to sti ones.. wrx gears are the shit.. for drag racing.. long ass gears.. but weak as butter.. ;(

those engines redline at 7k? seems kinda low for a 4cyl. my vr4 redlines at 7k and thats a 3.0 v6. the boxers r a good engine tho, cant wait for toyota to drop it in the new celica, cuz personally i dont like the looks of a subaru.

the 06-07 gear ratios are better
1st and 2nd are the same
3rd and 4rth are longer, as they should have been before
5th short
6th the same

what did u have in this car just intake and exhaust? pretty fast and awd is good.. cant u put a garret turbo and get over 600+ hp (of course with other mods to)?

Not if ur under 30, mine was $400a month for an 07 with just 1 speeding ticket. No ticket 300+. Saddly it died though. I miss that car.

i was 21 when i got my 2007 and got great rates with geico. they take off some money for the stis safety features and took off some bc i had a 3.0 gpa or above. mine was 800 for 6 months

right now im rocking a black tinted out 1999 caddy deville. thatll be my daily driver till i get insurance payout. after that im either looking at a weekend ~600whp evo or a 8-9 second prostreet muscle car.

That is why I dont like big SUVs... The Escalade must have spotted you like a hunder miles away, but cause it doesnt have brakes and it weights more than the moon, it slammed right into you (well... to comfort you, I think he got a few miles of his speed)
