Twayne, I so agree with you! It is simply one of the greatest!!! There is another version by the song's writer, I believe it is Gary White, that I can't find on youtube, but if you want to hear an equally good version by a male voice, you will find it worth while.
Beautiful song from a beautiful, beautiful lady. The photos of her around the four minute mark are from around the time when Linda recorded this song. She was only around 23 or 24 at the time and her vocal suggested the pain and sadness of lost love was quite real for her. I think this is the most affecting song ever recorded by her. And certainly her best.
This song came out about the year I was born and it is an masterpiece. My favorite one of hers because I am very emotional myself and this song is all about extreme emotion. It is crying out.....
I remember my Mother playing this song when I was younger. She's been gone now for two months now. I heard it on the radio the day see passed away. Now I listen to it everyday. I miss her.
im only 25 and this souds as good as it did in the seventies as now she sounds so sad but so f@@@@@ beautiful she is the best and is so classic i hope she lives on in her music
Exceptionally beautiful vocals; Linda gives the incredibly poignant, accurate, and bittersweet lyrics such feeling and meaning. Truly, this is the anthem to unrequited love.
This is such an amazing song!!! so true about lost love!!! Linda sings this with that loving feeling we all know!!! Thanks Linda and Thanks for posting!!!
What a beautiful pairing of singer and song. It's refined and elegant with the instruments complementing not competing with Linda's amazing voice. She was so young when she recorded this but she sings with the emotion and wisdom of an old soul. It's been called by DJs the saddest song ever recorded but it's also one of the most beautiful. Thanks for all the wonderful photos of Linda. Great video. Thanks for posting.
Long Long Time....This was the song that started it all. Dam, such a beautiful voice....and obviously a beautiful woman. I wasn't a big fan of her show tunes or big band whatever it was, but her rock stuff always had great players and she knew how to deliver it.

This song has always touched my heart. I love so many songs by her, it's impossible to say which is my favorite, but this one is certainly in the running.
Take it from one who grew up with Linda in Tucson, she's a great mom as well as a national treasure, and her health is not bad these days, but she's very busy being a mom, too. It's all the more amazing she finds time to do an occasional tour or occasional singing date.
Linda's always been a fav of mine. I followed her music all thru the decades, and was sad when she stopped making hit music. I know her health has been a prob thru the years, but I miss her music alot. Thanks for the great montage of her!
She is and always has been a very beautiful lady. I hope she finds health. I know how miserable it is to not have it. You don't think about your health until you one day don't have it...
I LOVE this song. I wish it wasn't embedding disabled because I'd love to put it in my MySpace profile...

I love this song and find it still moving as the first time.
One thing is sure: Linda Ronstadt doesn't get all the honours and respect she deserves as one of the every first vocalists iìof the century.
