My suggestion is unless you're a serious fan of Baja style racing (more so than a fan of video games) I suggest you go for DiRT instead. I bought Baja: edge of control with high hopes for it, but found the the graphics to be poor and the game play repetitive. Baja is still a good game, don't get me wrong, but I'd go for DiRT.

Yes, obviously its an ignorant statement as i've only played 2 other rally games. Collin McCrae 3 and GT4. The rally in DIRT is far better than those two anyway. I haven't played any other games and i'm not a big racing game fanatic. I'm a casual racing gamer so i'm only interested in arcade racing games. I only played Dirt and Grid for the spectacular crash physics :D.

I don't care about simulation, i only play for fun and i use other cars as braking aids :)).

Actually, it's about 50/50 right now. About 2 miles from the start it changes from pavement to dirt, then right before Glenn Cove it changes back to pavement, all the way up to Devil's Playground. After it's all dirt again. But "rumors" are that it will get paved all the way to the top in near future, to preserve the mountain. We'll see.

And I second that DiRT is unrealistic when it comes to physics. Almost unplayable with my G25 wheel too. I'll stick to real cars over games anytime :)

well you are quite right DIRT is a bit unrealistic but i am quite glad it is because its one of the only Rally Games you can play properly with a Gamepad ( I use the XBOX 360 Gamepad @ PC)

This game is quite like GriD as far as simulation stands.. It's not one.. It's way more realistic than the NFS series or many others but this is not a simulator. The only real rally simulator i know of is Richard Burns Rally.

Also, kinda lame that in this video the driver has used a keyboard (or other non-wheel controller) for steering.. But hey, not everyone can afford one =)

Play first, talk later. You have never seen the actual Pikes Peak cars? They really do have grip like you see in the game. Trust me, it takes skill because Pikes Peak with 1000hp cars makes for a very fast race. This hillclimb is only a small part of the whole game. In my opinion one of the better race games of the last couple of years. Just don't judge if all you have in experience is watching a game trailer.

1: you must have a pretty good computer to get DiRT running so good on it, i only saw a few lags which may have been small skips in the video, but other than that, I would confuse that for a real hillclimb

I did play the PS1 GT version of this track. I probably will get this game now. What is it DIRT 2.0 or something? This still is not enough to impress for me. The car is going up the hill 25% faster than actually possible. Track looks the same as in reality except it has more pavement now. This car looks like the Celica V6 twin turbo to me.
