xD... this is just great... I'm a big fan of the fret system on this guitar, which is how I found out it existed... and I'd just never expected to se so many not only modern innovative takes on how to make a guitar in just one place... but also al the ones that sound the best? instead of calling modern stupid BC Rich's with actives in... this is... innovative... In a way thats for the tone to appreciate ^^
What's the point of this? If you're gonna do a comparison, do a proper one with the same part being played through the same amp setting with the pickup in the same position on the guitar. I learnt nothing from this.
The Classic Plus sounds more like a Gibson humbucker than a Gretsch Filtertron. Would the regular TV Classic be better for AC/DC chord riffs through a tube Marshall?
I'm surprised by everyone who shocked by the 'silly looking' guitar, considering the Flying V was born in 1958 and played with regularity by Lonnie Mack, Albert King, Jimi Hendrix and Billy Gibbons...
Wow sounds great. Not at all what I expected from the looks of the demonstrator. The Two Rock should have tipped me off, plus the fact that the pointy guitar is a Suhr.
OK, back to the subject of the video. TV Jones pickups are, to me, some of the best pickups you can buy. Tom V. Jones loves music, and loves the guitar with all of his heart, he is the Leo Fender of pickup design. Any guitar I have played with TV Jones pickups, through any kind of amp, has always KICKED ASS. No one knows this better than Billy Gibbons...listen to how great ZZ Top's sound is, thanks to the PowerTron pickups he uses in his Gretsch Billy Bo.
I love everything about this video. I figured all the reviews on these pickups would be on Gretsch's and wanted to hear the sound on something else. Definitely did. Also very glad that it's on a Dumble style amp.
What are the pickup locations? Have you played with the classic + and supertron combo? I like the classic, and supertron, and think the C+ would get the sound I am going for.
@hyrulesurfer1-Who gives a fuck what this guy looks like! He is a very talented player, if you got your head out of you know where, you could see how easily he plays and moves between many different styles. Most musicians are not Adonises or Supermodels, grow the fuck up! And while you are at it, put up a video here on YouTube and show us your chops...then we can all judge YOU on your looks and not your playing skill.
@itsonlyrcknroll- My pleasure! I absolutely FUCKING HATE all these morons who run down musicians for their looks! OK, so, you may not like their music, may even criticize it, so what? With me, for example, I have never been into Yes, their music just doesn't suit me. And Steve Howe may not be an underwear model, but I will tell you this, if I just played his MISTAKES, I would call myself a kick ass player! That is how much I respect his musicianship and playing skill.
@bramachari ...i don't play that much metal anymore as i used to, i am more into blues/rock these days^^...but now and than i play some metal riffs including PanterA on my Ri 52 Telecaster and it sounds great ;)
@Penguinwithatowel There are definitely much worse looking guitars, I actually like the V-Shape, and I like how they are showing these pickups can be used with more than Gretsch guitars
Great playing in all genres. The pickups and the player sound wonderful.

Not much Magnatron in the mix, huh...
Still, luv that sound.

I like all the TV Jones demo's very much. Could you do some more "clean" demos? Not as much distortion?
Maybe you can show coil splitting and phase reversal?
I assume you put the Classic in the bridge all the time when mixing pickups?
I'm wondering if mixing pickups really calls for the Classic PLUS bridge or not...
