  • This is the hardest goddamn game nobody talks about.

  • OMG i been looking for this game for agesss!!! TY!

  • Actually, you CAN hit his arms while he's flying, it's just a bit tricy.

  • 5:12 ya know that right there is what made him so hard. The trade off on damage, he could take a lil less then a third of your health in 1 hit =/ taking you down in about 4 or 5 and yet with the power ring the best you can do is about 1/18. Personally I never went with the power ring method. The time ring gave ya more time to get more licks in. The protection ring was the best if ya timed it right but it drained ring power so fast ya had to use it like for 1 hit and thats it

  • I'm not going to lie....... this boss was the most difficult boss i've ever had the unfortune of fighting on any SNES game.

  • I had this game on the SNES console and damn, this boss was hard as fuck.

  • Damn this si some great music

  • Little tip for everyone:You can actually HIT his hands while he's flying.

  • I remember this game from back in the 90's when I was a teenager. You did well dude. I need to go back and play this again! The music was cool as well. 5/5

  • I'm not sure I understand what your point is...

  • i never did like how his health got to being a sliver, maybe it was a way to make it take more hits

  • I think he's saying "You didn't kill him then"

  • @FlyingOmelette he meant u were so close to finish him off at that time

  • Man I remember them days I LOVED that game and I some times still hum the first dugeon song in my head XD

  • This boss was friggin hard, I never got able to beat him without ever using emulator save states or Game Genie/Action Replay codes

  • this game is an underrated gem.

  • this game has an awesome soundtrack

  • how do you pass the maze

  • I don't remember the exact instructions for getting through it now, but I'll bet what you're having trouble with is that at one point, you get on an elevator going down, and it comes to a stop. You have to wait on it to go down a second time after that.

  • i do i keep goin in a circle

  • I remember how to beat the maze, If you have the Ogre's ball of fire item in your inventory Equip it and follow the path to your first elevator shaft. As soon as you get off of the elevator head to the left as far as you can go to get to another elevator shaft. From there just head to the all the way to the right and you will have made it out of the maze.

  • thanx

  • @FlyingOmelette I think with the elevator you have to go to the right or left of it, like there's a hidden passage?

  • I wish my SNES still worked D; otherwise I'd get this game. oh well for now I'll just play oath in felghana.

  • lets just wait for Nintendo to release it on Virtual Console like they did for Book 1 & 2

  • Kudos.

I usually just amulet and abuse the hell out of the invuln ring to hit him as much/quickly as possible. After chugging the brosha serum and an herb/necklace (if it even gets that bad), it's GG.

Don't know if that works on the SNES version though, works like gangbusters on Genesis.

  • omfg i have this game on snes. lol i remember how many times i waste time to play this game but it's still good lol

  • I got this game for my snes, I beat it a while ago and I decided to play it again but now the game doesnt work any more =(

  • You probably just need to clean it.

  • Damn straight this is one of the very best SNES games ever. The music is awesome too, catchy and thrashy.

  • omfg [little girl sceech] they have it on here i dont beleive it this is like the best snes game ever

  • Great game but I was never able to be the final boss. Tried over and over but never could survive it...

  • Ha, I remember playing this as a kid and swearing at the game for putting his weak point in such a horrible place (I kept getting fried by the lightning, you see).

  • This game was MUCH harder on SNES than on TG-16 for some reason.

  • this shitty boss look noob..

  • no joke. he even has a fuckin jack-o-lantern face lol.

  • That's not his face, that's his chest. His head is above that, and much smaller. It's just almost impossible to see due to the effect the mpeg compression had on the graphics. Funny how I never took much notice of that chest pattern before, though.

  • You, actually did it? I've been trying for years!

  • Just use the strategy I used and be patient. He used to scare the bajeezus out of me when I was younger because of how much harder he is than the entire rest of the game, but once you've got his pattern down, he's actually quite easy. I can beat him on my first try any time now. And you can see I was a little sloppy in this video and still beat him.

  • This is one of the hardest bosses ever. You can actually swing your sword at his arms, and sometimes it won't register the hit.

Also, you have to be at a precise range, because even if you're not touching him, the game sometimes thinks you are, and 3-4 hits like that (you'll usually get 2 in a row) pretty much means death.

  • 5:12 for example. Look how much damage touching the boss gives.

  • Actually this boss really isnt that bad at all... its only "tough" cause you cant outlevel him like you can the others. Take boss at the end of the quarry for example, id love to see how its humanly possible to beat that guy without getting hit. Luckily you can build up a lot of hp and use the shield or power ring and just sit there hitting him while he hits you, and beat him.

  • THis boss was fucking hard as hell.

  • Ha! Yeah, know what you mean. He's harder than the entire rest of the game put together. However, I've gotten to the point where I can now easily beat him without worrying too much, even when I've been much out of practice, as I was when I made this video.

  • for the 1`st time SNES actually had a game which has a series of soundtracks infurior to the Genesis Version ! haha.

  • Uh, no. Ballacetine Castle is missing the harmony on the Gen version, Frozen in Time is missing the horns, Behold! is missing half the song, and the two ending themes seem to be exclusive to the SNES version. The SNES version has more realistic slap bass and horns, and some of the songs from the Gen version are so bad I wouldn't even include them on my Ys music page.

  • Unfortunately, there's no one definitive version of Ys3 that has all the best versions of the songs. Frozen in Time is best on the SNES, Be Careful is best on the TG16, Departure at Sunrise is best on the PS2.

  • This was one of my favorite games years ago,and I still like it.Very well done.
