Don't know a thing about American Gridiron, but what I don't understand is how this is anything different than normal Gridiron? I honestly don't understand sorry :<
Football is Football. I enjoyed it while it lasted, and does it really matter if these guys are'nt as good as NFL players? As long as they are evenly matched, it's good football. College players are'nt as good as NFL players, yet the games are great. I think college is better to watch myself.
Wow,*dadirrtywhyteboi*below is a true idiot. He thinks that because V. McMahon was part owner of the league somehow all of these games were choreographed like in pro wrestling(how the fuck do you stage a football game!?).Idiots like him wouldn't know real men's American Football if it hit him in his mangina. The XFL was hands down kick ass football that would've been a success had morons like him not been so enamored with the NoFunLeague, and all it's little pussy QB protecting penalties.
@Thewrestlingking4123 Yes,but you can't choreograph(like a dance routine, or movie scene)a sport.Yes any sport can be fixed to where some of the players or officials *can influence* the outcome of a game(Not everyone is in on it; Shoeless Joe wasn't despite being wrongly convicted). These idiots, and please don't tell me you're one of them, think that every move and play right down to exactly how much time and distance a play would be for, is*choreographed*.Do you think all of them were acting!?
All I'm saying is that the XFL games were all live actual competitive football games okay. The QB didn't spend the week rehearsing a script where it said 'on this play throw the ball in this certain spot so that Johnny CB can int. the ball, then he will run at you, at exactly this yard line and slightly slow down so you can tackle him (make it look spectacular)'. How sad that people actually believe these games were preplanned and rehearsed for (places everyone places...and...action! lol).
@SuavecitoBro2 whether the spelling of "cuntry" was on purpose or not, I'm laughing my ass of. And, football is all about the money now. This was almost puely guts and hard hits.
oh damn... This xfl shit is awesome, too bad it only lasted one season. Seems like the defense is the focus, and OH MY GOD is this hard hitting. No fair catch? THAT'S my kind of football.
What really did suck about the team we had in Orlando was that the stadium sold out for every game at the Citrus Bowl, but they only let 20000 people in....Pissed alot of people off, but it would be fun to have this league back when there are no sports on tv.
"remenber the xfl" xfl was horrible. the game play was slop, lots of droped passes, over thrown balls. and brining the wwe theme into it made it a complete disaster
That tends to happen with a start up football league that doesn't waste fans' time with a pre-season, and instead let them improve on the field. By the end of the season the play had improved dramatically, and several players went on to the NFL (with Tommy Maddox becoming an unheralded star for the Steelers.)
The XFL was unfairly judged by the media who refused to give it a chance even though it had good football that would have improved with time, and actually turned me into a football fan from 2001 onward.
how was it a rip off to the nfl? that's like saying college football is a ripoff to the nfl, or highschool football is. or that's like saying that burger king is a rip off to mcdonalds. you're rucking retarded! i hate u!
Im from Norway and XFL was never show'n here. But i like how the cameramen was filmin' it on field and stuff. But some of the rules was just too brutal lol! ..yea,might be excitin to watch, but daym lol! But i dont why ppl are hatin AFL,i think its a great sport goin under winter\spring and it goes fast. I like the concept of it
ya the cameraman on the field thing was stolen by the NFL for the next the Super Bowl that season the XFL actually had some really good rules established it just was never gonna take off as people that the games were not real(since WWF/E Chairman Vince McMahon was owner) and that the television networks NBC TNN & UPN were pulling out as carrying the programing. I also like the AFL nice little spin on football and the games are competative
the basis of the idea was good, mcmahon was just an idiot. he knew how popular football was and has gotten even more popular since then. the idea to put whatever name of the jersey, and not OVER protect players was good, but obvioulsy the no fair catch and the late hits made it a joke. its already been said, just not enough talent for another league...although maybe the UFL will make it...? *optimism*
I knew he hate me or Rod Smart. He dated this one kid i knews mom. Too bad he wasn't succesful in the NFL with the Panthers. His brother Chris Rainey from Lakeland High School which now plays for the Florida gators is fast he ran a 2.23 i think and he's gonna make it to the NFL. Just wait till he starts the gators gonna be even better.

His brother Chris Rainey from Lakeland High School which now plays for the Florida gators is fast he ran a 2.23 i think and he's gonna make it to the NFL. I don't think you can put any of the players at fault here. It was played by a bunch of men who clearly LOVED the sport. It's a shame it wasn't able to stick around for a few more years. In time the players would have improved, thus improving the quality of the game. There could have been a nice trickle down (and up) effect of players from the NFL to XFL or XFL to NFL.
Guys like Dante Cullpepper, who still wanted to play but nobody would sign him (until the Lions here a little while back) could have went to the XFL for a season and 'proved' that he was still good enough.
dude are you stupid the XFL only lasted for 1 season and that was like....i don't know, but i do know that it was way before Dante Cullpepper was a free agent
Really. No kidding. Did you figure that out all on your own? I was using Culpepper as an example of a player who, IF the league was still around, might have used the XFL as a 'proving ground'. Not quite sure how you got confused on that one.
the XFL bought a more canadian edge to american football, it's too bad the NFL didnt use some of their more canadian rules, like safies of failed returns on kickoffs.
and in return, the CFL should, and will hopfully take note, that they should hav used a form of the XFL's no kick convert rule, it would be prefect for the CFL game (NFL can go either way) snice the kick convert looks very pointless.
I liked the XFL. At least it was real football, unlike this arena shit. And they played in the worst conditions, AFTER the NFL season! It was played by guys who truly loved the game. They should have given it more of a chance. What did it in was lousy announcers and Saturday night games. Who wants to watch football on a Saturday night? Everyone knows pro football is to be played on Sundays. Miss ya XFL!
ill defend europe and say The CFL once again is 2nd to the nfl today and as big as the xfl was in the states it was a joke up here. vince wanted investors from toronto to own a franchise. fuck the fake xfl
There are two new football leauges forming. They are called the All American Football League and the new USFL. I hope they will both be better and last much longer than the XFL.
I remember one game where some guy on the D broke through and clotheslined the QB before he hut the ball. The XFL's problem was it was too closely tied with wrestling. If it kept it's distance, it may still be around today.
rugby is actually pretty popular in america the high school i went to had a boys and girls team, so didnt most of the other school districts, socer teams as well, There just not as popular sports here than in europe, much like how you guys look at Football or baseball, were just not into it that much even though alot of people enjoy it and play it here.
What alot of people don't realize is although the XFL was a flop, alot of the ideas like the cameras on the wires and all that were moved on to the NFL... So in all reality it helped better the NFL experience. It's jut the NFL has been around so long, no one is going to be able to take them off their throne.. The USFL tried and that went bye bye to lol
And don't forget Mike Furrey who is still really good despite playing for the Lions and of course Tommy Maddox one of the few players who has a XFL Championship and a Superbowl ring.
atleast the XFL had good hits and was fun to watch...the sissy NFL calls a penalty for every fucking hard hit u make...the QB's are all fags, and now a simple horsecollar tackle is illegal...how bout the NFL goes to 2 hand touch...fucking pussy shit...I seen more hard hits in the 1 year XFL then in the last 5 in the NFL..
You are an idiot. Do you know how destructive horsecollar tackles can be to your body? I've had it happen to me a couple times while playing and it hurt like hell. This is in a minor league, imagine a 250+ pound defencemen with pure, rock-hard muscles doing it to you.
QBs are overprotected sometimes I'll say, but they are one of the most vulnerable people on the field. They're trying to find someone open downfield while 3 300+ pound dliners are rushing at you. It's not very pleasant getting hit

XFL was a waste of money. It had no chance against the CFL and AFL for people trying to get into the NFL

The Xfl would have been fine if they didnt require the coaches to get hit with a steel chair after every touchdown.

whatn ot a lot of people understand is that the XFL didn't use any wrestlers other than commentary. all the players were NFL draft rejects.
