This is how it is now. I went to uni in the early 2000's and these facts were anticipated in a job market that doesn't pay based on quals, but one paying on productivity. Internet connectivity and a place without distractions is the real handicap to probing out opportunities and keeping up with what you do. This is especially true if you teach abroad, homeless, or extensively travel. The conundrum still is the qual requirements always seem too high to score the contracts, but ESL is wide open.

Awesome, there is definitely a shift happening in the market place. We have to change the way we think about the market place which is now completely global. Productivity is just a word the bottom line is profitability anybody can be productive but can they produce profit.

@yinman1975 i wish people could see how horribly profit has affected the world. "the bottom line is profit" in order to get the maximum amount of profit a company makes its product cheaply and in scarce amounts, ensuring that not all can afford the product. even though we have the resources to feed and house the world no one will do it because it will not turn a profit. 1% of the world owns 40% of the wealth, and they only want more. Pink Floyd was right, money is a drag and its not needed

Nice pipedream. As we can see in the current jobs DEPRESSION, it's not what you KNOW, it's whom you BLOW.  We've got college grads and grad students from Harvard, Yale, etc., who cannot find work in today's America.

half of it, it's a plain horror video. a real life dystopia science non-fiction. the vision clean white supermodernist design, horrible muzak, smiling face telling you that you will be slave to the global virtual machine from now on. would be interesting to show completely other pics on every slide: the dark side of the Flat World. luckily, there's also some hope for digital communitarism. but future will be painful.

Productivity metrics are a BS way of assessing peoples worth to any organisation when they over simplify.

Eg. call centre staff who end calls as quickly as possible but don't actually help an organisations customers/clients.

Odesk basically advocate snooping software on its members computers.
