  • Homer was there

  • Most of the song isn't a real polyrhythm, it's a "weird" 4/4. New Millenium Cyanide Christ is a polyrythm, Rational Gaze is, Bleed is, well, a lot of Meshuggah's songs are, you know xDDD

  • his voice is so fkn epic maaaaan

  • they all used to be so high all the time hah, oh well. gave them more energy i suppose. they still hit those polyrhythms spot on.

  • DO NOT TAKE MESHUGGAH"S NAME IN VANE!!! DESTROY ERASE IMPROVE!!!

  • @funknotik

    Vain*

    Anyways, this video is badasssss!!

  • @Woozerziez INJECT YOUR VEINS WITH MESHUGGAH!!!

  • why do people care about jen's vocals? it's just vocals, and and it seems to fit the music. it's the way they play that impresses me

  • RAAW!

  • jens had a stronger voice back then

  • @gearsofhalo2 I know, it's depressing to know that he can't get it back.

  • @Avoryne hes 40s now, so he is still lightyears better than james hetfeld for sure

  • @gearsofhalo2

Oh no, of course, he's not like Corey Talor or anything. Haha! But yeah, he's certainly lost some strength. Sucks.

  • Been listening to meshuggah for 5 years now. I still love the music.

  • Thordendal and Haake are fucking unbelievable.

    Meshuggah equal pure quality.

  • you equal to total dumbassness you bandeco

  • I was listening to this shit when I was 9

  • @MethCircuS Then you must have grown more and more stupid each and every passing year. Sucks to be you.

  • you're one dumb mother fucker yourself.

  • holy fuck.

  • amazing. i love this group. i'm just now discovering some of their older stuff.... thanks for posting

  • 11 years old!

  • best solo hes ever played!

  • Sweet sweet video of this amazing metal band. I finally saw them live and am still in delayed shock. My body is slowly healing after the sonic punishment and it felt so fucking GOOOOOD!

  • best song ever!

  • sickening song!

  • amazing song =)

  • Fredrik Thordendal is a genius. As are the rest of the band.

  • i love that little dance he dose at the begginging

  • I love the way Haake does the hi-hat thing before he burst into the song, it's sounds completely out of time but cool.

  • obviously people who say polyrythms suck doesnt understand what´s so great with it.Then let me tell you,the thing that is cool with polyrythms is when the snare drum "changes it´s purpose" in the rythm,it´s being played in the same rythm while for example the kickdrums is being played in another, shorter or longer rythm, thus the snare drum "changes it´s purpose".If you dont understand that, then stop talking shit about the music.

  • i know wut u're sayin' but that's a pretty confusing explanation man... doesn't really help polyrhythms especially if they didn't get them before... some people just aren't ready for music that doesn't follow conventional standards.

  • yep.. songs like this rock once you kinda get the jist of it. but they are so unapprichiatated. its not somthing thats neccisarily "easy to head bang to" or play drums for that matter (and belive me i've tried) but no doubt a bunch of metal bands that have some talent are catching on and making some good stuff with these types of rythems like the ocean, sun caged, pain of salvation. see this is what music is all about. trying new things, making mistakes and rolling with it.

  • Awesome fuckin song!!! Awesome band. Where the fuck is Peter Nordin nowadays?

  • the guitarist is feirce in the begining

  • couse it hard to make that sound on a guitar.. they used help under making of the song... (sorry. bad english)

  • Gabe777 go fuck yourself. dont be such a fucking retard

  • I hear two different time signatures with polyrhythms all over the guitar work!! sweet!

  • The concept of the polyrhythm is often in the feel. Like a drifting start point to a repeating riff. This song is in 4/4 (as far as I know.) You can pick time signatures by the emphasis on 1 of each bar.

(to enjoy Meshuggah, head bang the hi-hat!)

  • The idea of polyrhythem is that there are actully two rhythms, so in part you are right. his hands are playing in 4/4 on this song. however his feet are not what they are playing i dont know, you would need someone far smarter than me to tell you that. but every section's tempo and rhythm is unique aswell. That is why bands like meshuggah deserve far more credit than they are given. They fit more complex mechanics into one song than most bands will put on an album

  • I think I can argue the feet are playing 4/4 aswell. An example: If you take a repeating section (a riff) that repeats every 3 beats and play it with the enfisis on the first beat each time - u could argue the riff's in 3/4. But if you play that same riff in 4/4 the enfisis would be on the 1st beat then 2nd then third. Do u know what I mean? ONE - 2 - 3 ONE - 2 - 3...etc = 3/4 or ONE - 2 - 3 1 - TWO - 3 1 - 2 - Three = 4/4 The song is in 4/4 so that is the time you try2 keep in your head.
  • well ya but in that case it would make as much sense to notate it

    One - 2 - 3 - Four

    1 - 2 - Three - 4

    1 - Two - 3 - 4

    = 3/4

if you really think about music you can notate the same music in any time signature you like and it can still be accurate. the idea is that there is one way thats easier to read. so that is the signature people will most commonly refer too. In polyrhythm however its harder to represent both rhythms with the most accurate time signature.

  • so in essence i would say you are not wrong but then again i dont know all the rules for reading sheet music. either way without a doubt this is a very complicated and intricate song.

  • old stof. but still 100% great.meshuggah is the best band ever i think. take care and peace in the world

  • mmyea, spelling polyrhythms wrong is only the first indicator you don't understand complexity when you hear it. poly=many. Also listen to Frederick Thornendal's solo album. It is like Allan Haldsworth on a bad acid trip.

  • Agree.Totally amazing.

  • fukin awsome

  • go fuck yourself idiot

  • haha dumb shit, polly rhythms lol, go fuck a goat

  • Why do poly rhythms suck? That's just as plausible as saying quarter notes suck. That in and of itself is retarded.

  • agreed, well acually dude you ever thing that mitb89 and gabe777 are below the standard I.Q. and don't understand polyrhythums< i on the other hand love them:) sweet video

  • what´s up with polly's rhythm?? jajajajajjaaja buy a dictionary fucking fagg

  • zomg fuck off polyrythyms are multiple time signatures basically and they are a real thing lol

  • This is a fucking great shit....

  • yea baby

  • amazing.

  • Thordendal is AWESOME! and HAAKE is AWESOME!

    They are all AWESOME!

  • ahahaha, good video, its kind of funny that it looks like kiddy-boy was kind of lost at 0:06...awesome solo...

  • mudvayne eats cock GOM DIE RETARD

  • what an insanely good band

  • meshuggah change the face of thrash metal.known for their math metal music.and rising new band like mudvayne.

  • wow.... meshuggah owns

  • shake it jens!!! lol
