Hey, man. Great cover. could u plz in any way send me the sheet music? i would greatly appreciate it because i would like2play this song at my school's solo/duet concert. and if u can not send the music, i still appreciate listening2this piece. :D
Nice! Great Job! The only other thing I have to say is Don't forget to have fun with it!!! You don't have to play the music straight off of the page, you can change it a little and make it your own.
haha, i like seeing the expressions on peoples faces that play instruments with mouthpieces i have this wierd looking face when i play like the high notes like a and b and c my face puckers up like i just ate a lemon or something (: lol nice job!
nice job great tone but one thing I suggest is to improve your articulation to make sure there is a disticted difference between dits doos dahs and dahts... nail thoughs and you golden
i see you lift your finger completely off the key. i used to do the same. your note changes might sound cleaner if you keep your fingers on the key even if it is not held down. did wonders for my playing.
AMAZING!!!! You inspire all middle school alto sax players. I'm astounded! But to me it sounds like you slur everything...do you? I said all alto sax middle school players because I'm currently an 8th grade female alto sax player. Where did you get the music????
Dude, Im in the 6th grtade and I could probably play it better than you. Not to mention faster. So shut up. I learned it in 15 minutes. And I can play it on just about any sax. Soprillo, Sopranino, Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bari, Bass, Contrabass.
@TheIzzysteve Well thats pretty cool and all. But i watched your video's and all i see is an ugly ass kid failing to reload a fricking rifle. So untill you upload some video's of you playing this actual song perfectly on "every" sax please stfu and dont watch these video's if you're gonna be bitching anyways.
hmm .. gweeemonster is right, the technique is the easiest part.. dark round sound is tough to get..u just need to play that fast part rly slowly like 1000 times :) and u gonna play it well .. the problem is to play fast compositions with nice tone, u can check my video of yakety sax :PP
You have the technique, which is the easiest part of the saxophone. You just need to work on style and it will greatly improve. Boots Randolph uses stachato on all of the eighth notes (or 16th if you aren't reading an arrangement in cut-time) if you listen to him.
The technique is NOT the easiest part of the saxophone. Just the embouchure is a hell of a lot work to get straight. A little more support by your stomach (diaphragma? support) and it would be a heck of a lot better.
I've been playing saxophone for 7 years. Trust me, the technique is the easiest part. Getting a good sound is very hard on the saxophone. I don't know many people who actually have a french classical sound. That dark, round sound is tough to get. Many players just have shitty tones that they think are good. LASERS! That is acceptable in jazz obviously though.
I played clarinet for 5 years before I switched over to sax. I've now played sax for 6 years. So I do have some experience on this matter. The only thing I get straight is the classical sound. If you know how to use the diapraghma you will find the tone eventually. But to play fast AND with tongue is something you use years to learn! You can't deny those facts!
@gweeemonster as long as you can play like you have a golf ball in the back of your mouth you can darken your sound...(on bari for sure... havent tried on alto... won't till marching season)
I try to think that I have a warm potato in the back of my mouth. :) But the outcome should be the same. :) It works that way^^ If you do all the other things right too (embouchure, diapragma +++ blahblah).
Boots randolph is rolling over in his grave. You suck. Seriously you have sheet music to that song and still blow The entire song was a fail. Next time dont slur every note. noob
Why don't you clowns grow up? Give the guy some credit. He won't exactly wow us with that playing, but he got YOUR attention, and he had the guts to post it. He'll improve, but will you ever grow up? He can get rid of mistakes with practice, but can how you ever get rid of your ugly attitude?
(continued)...I've heard too many people who should never have revealed how bad they are...and on a public post like Youtube! They should have learned how to play first...but they post their videos and a bunch of morons tell them how good (???) they are. This guy can play this better than most of you, or you wouldn't have attacked his efforts. Jealous idiots...
Boots has slurred a lot of the song himself at times. Ronny Aldrich, who did the Benny hill version, tongues the thing a lot more than I've ever heard Boots do. I don't think that makes Boots sloppy, though.
tonging is when u use ur tongue to basicly slap the reed, which is a wooden part on ur mouthpiece, to make a crisp/clear distinction between the notes, and when u slur is when u play like this kid who doesnt use his tongue to put a break between the notes
when i went and looked for a pro horn, i was fortunate enough to play ALOT of saxes myself and i ended up picking a P. Mauriat System 76, and i've had no buyers remorse. I picked it over selmer series 2 and 3, Z custom yamaha, some jupiter thing, and the yamaha 62 series, which are very popular these days. but ive not played a bundy, i wouldnt know

Only to an extent! Most of the tone depends upon the sax and the player. The reed, of course, makes a big difference, too. he mouthpiece that suits one player might not be the best...or even tolerable...to another.

Take a cue from the trombones (metaphorically) and let it loose. This is the piece that is the jazz trombonists "Trombone Buster" (google it)
Let the the chamber group tone go. And friggin' crank it!
Good understanding of the piece. You know the piece, now just make it epic.

bundy saxes suck
RockRox6 2 years ago
So do opinions that aren't backed up...like yours.
Bundys are good for beginners, and you can still get parts for them.
Sainjae, Yamahas are made better than Bundys. As a sax player and repairman, I find the Yamaha's action more responsive than the Bundy's. The tone's also more centered. Bundys don't sound better than Yamahas unless the Bundy is in the hands of a good player and the Yamaha's being played by a poor player. The Bundy is a "beat-around-and abuse" instrument and sounds like it.
floppier 2 years ago
You say his opinion sucks, then you say the Bundy brand is a "beat -around-and-abuse" sax.
Why does an opinion need to be "backed up" anyway
HEREoverHERE 2 years ago
I repair saxes for a living, and I think that gives me some backup to any opinions I offer.
HIs saying that Bundys suck doesn't mean anything just because he says so. Does he know ANYTHING about saxes?
If RockRax6 said he is a fair player and has compared the Bundy to so-and-so sax, then he'd have some basis for his opinion.
If I said RockRax6 sucks (I'm NOT saying so!), then my opinion's not worth crap unless I give a good reason for saying to.
floppier 2 years ago
I respect your expertise, but he's just insulting an sax. brand, which is not the same as insulting a person
