What is the difference between you buying yourself a loaf of bread and your state buying one for you? Besides the fact that you pay the government to buy the loaf of bread, nothing. You consume it either way, and both you and the state currently pay the embedded cost of income capital gain, corporate income and other taxes.

I did read the FT Book -- four times, and have the second book.

Funny how the first Fairtax book brags that "Fairtax makes the federal government become a MAJOR taxpayer". Page 148.

City, county, and state governments have to- pay this huge sales tax too.

Fairtax math is based on over a trillion in taxes FROM the government.

But then the second book -- which was going to answer critics -- never dared touch this subject

I read the book four times. Yes, there IS a tax on services, genius. Plus, you will pay this same insane tax -- the worlds hightest sales tax -- on your RENT, yes RENT. And all your car insurance. And on ALL medical cost -- including cancer surgery, nursing home care, ect. And on utility bills, gasoline, etc. Don't worry, no one is seriously trying to pass this. Its a farce and they wont dare have hearings on it. They would look like lunatics if the "details" were exposed.

@MarkDouglasC You seem to be missing the biggest point of all.  As it stands now, prices of goods and services are artifically inflated by on average 22% by the costs of the current system. That includes both the actual moneys forwarded to the federal government and the cost of compliance with the current insane system. It is expected that the prices of goods and services will decline by about the same amount of the sales tax. FAIR TAX NOW!!!

Next time listen to the video, it would replace all the embedded taxes that you pay now, right now (i also read the book) you pay 23 % in embedded taxes (taxes on the corp, transportation, and everything needed to get the good or service to you that is passed on to you in the price, and then add 18% tax) you are already paying it. They just remove the imcome tax burden, and give you the choice (freedom what concept) to pay or not. if the item is worth it you will, if not you won't
