this man Damu yo....just an amazing, amazing talent....very rare that the new wave of best producers of today are also DJ's...Marco Polo, Kev Brown etc., most of them only produce.
Serato or wutever, if Damu is used to spinning alot, those really save the travel load like insane. One def great thing about being DJ I think Serato really helped as far as carrying 10 crates.
There are downsides to the "culture" for as far as convenience, these new school toys are amazing. I went from MPC 2000, Mixer, Reverb, Effects modules, Motif rack etc. to one laptop, MIDI keyboard and drum pad. I could technically make beat with just laptop.
Damu's studio is nice and simple, no need for fancy wack ass dre timbaland shit, if you keep it nice and simple youll def come out with dope material and Damu never dissapoints. Damu is hiphop's saviour right now.
@willdebeastly and whered you get this fact from??? youtube has a pretty significant record/music collection of its own...on top of all the ways to acquire music online... there's no way this fact is true...
@Morg206 no one place, but it's pretty much a rule of thumb. the rare samples usually aren't on itunes or sold as cds. most of the people who upload it onto youtube, or blogs or whatever get it straight from the record. and even then, you're not always gonna find what you're looking for in good quality, ready to download on the internet
@Morg206 A lot of stuff on vinyl is pretty hard to find on the internet. A lot of the vinyl that I have found digging I couldnt find on youtube or the internet.
@Morg206 That statement is true. It's not worth it to convert all those rare releases or unpopular artist into digital formats. You'd always find gems crate digging. Youtube is great for getting sounds, and it has its advantages though.
"I don't even buy my own records anymore" LOL......Thanks for the inside look into your creative process. I used another piece of the same Roots record for a beat I did. Thanks for your vids.
