  • This is the way that this song should be played: spontaneously and with an intimate crowd of people.

  • Where the fuck was I during their 07 tour? So many great impromtus. Still, saw them in April and it was so special; it was by far the best concert I've ever been to (even better than seeing Roger Waters tour the Wall). I just wish I could have seen them in a little church or small venue somewhere in Europe. Amazing video.

  • Arcade Fire is so good, that even when they just Jam in a lobby like you would jam with friends it sends chills down my Spine, How do you, how do you, how do you do that?!!?

  • krÃss_gébt_mAl_beÎ_gõOglÊ:_geldeasy_èIÑ_vøll_kràss

  • it makes me cry

  • still one of my favourite videos on youtube after 4 years, and still only 218k views, this deserves millions more. Beautiful song, beautiful version.

  • this made me cry it's just so amazing!

  • This is the one where Chris Martin's being a gentleman in amongst the audience with the rest of the public isn't it. Kudos to him - not many huge music stars would do that. Others would have hid in a dressing room or got security to shove people out of the road! And he obviously loves his Arcade Fire!

  • me encanta!!!!! que auténtico!!!!

  • This is the only version that has ever brought a tear to my eye. Yeah.

  • I loved Arcade Fire from the first album to the second album.

The third albums is SHIT though..

I'm happy that they are recognized now, but the performance at the Grammy's was really bad.

  • @masonkim7 Who cares? That's part of a live performance on national TV.

  • Still my favourite video on youtube.

  • Gave me chills. The good kind :)

  • Canadians, using their superpowers for "good".

  • That's why Arcade Fire are one the best bands to ever grace this earth!!

I'm guessing you would'nt see the Rhianna's and Justin Beibers of the world doing this, probably because they dont actually have talent!!

  • @BOUTTS87 Congratulations, you have now joined the ranks of imbeciles who randomly mention Justin Bieber and other pop acts on videos that have absolutely nothing to do with them. Fucking idiot.

  • @RobertRayawordup I was mearly expressing my opinion you defensive knobhead!! You must lead a really sad life if you spend your time trying to insult people for no good reason on youtube!! I would usually rise above it but im making an exception for you!!! 3 words : american arse hole

  • @BOUTTS87 And I was merely expressing mine, so shut up.

  • who else was just staring at richard and regine the whole time? i love them

  • this amazing. what other band does this??

  • @royleka463 gallows, sort of :)

  • I guess I'll just have to adjust

  • Very cool. I just discovered this band's music after seeing them on a highlight show from Glastonbury 2007. Love this song.

  • I'm gonna guess theres about ∞ number cardigans....

  • it must have been incredible to be there, one of those real tear-jerking, joy filled moments of life that your friends get bored of hearing about

  • @simonkaracinski i definitely hear ya on that one

  • delirious !

  • Fackin awesome!

  • I just cried. I've seen this before. But it's still as beautiful. Wish I was there.

  • How can anyone dislike this? Such passion, such energy, such....such....unbelievability. I hope they do stuff like this with The Suburbs.

  • this shows dedication to fans here. good shit

  • this video melts my heart

  • Still my favourite youtube video after all these years.

  • Spontaneity at it's absolute best. ♥

  • Something filled up my heart with nothing...

I guess I'll just have to adjust...

  • how freakin intense

  • oh wow. that gave me chills. i dont know if i could even fathom the intense amount of energy that was in that room. simply awesome

  • chills...

  • I love watching the face of everyone turning to look around and go "is this really happening"??

  • Please let them play in my tent at leeds.

  • If this doesn't make you smile, you have no soul.

  • I love them live, always. but it really really sucks when the audience messes up the lyrics. :(

  • i know right ! you would think they knew this song ! its epic

  • holy shite

  • almost sounds like a soccer chant. a beautiful soccer chant

  • Is it just me or do they mess up the words from 3:30-3:32?

  • @blinkuldhc i just noticed that! they say "now that i'm older" instead of "children don't grow up" still amazing though! lol

  • I can't listen to this version without tearing up. This song is so amazing! End of story.

  • damn i wish i was there !

  • The person to get the closest guess as to how many cardigans are being worn in that room gets a cardigan

  • @LNxHC

    Speaking of Cardigans...

    I9zpnLBtwwg

  • @LNxHC lol

  • @LNxHC My guess is 200 cardigans and 250 people with Student Loans lol.Btw im quite partial to a cardigan so if i'm the winner i will forward on my details ;)

  • @gordonw01 lol student loans, you're good.

  • @LNxHC , lol

  • This is for lack of a better word amazing

  • I see Chris Martin is there taking notes as usual. Always thought life in technicolor sounded like keep the car running.

  • Is it just me or does anyone else cringe whenever the girl screams "You gotta look out below!" too early?

  • that shit is hilarious. how embarrassed she must have been

  • She was ahead of her time

  • @joegar317 its called having fun lighten up.

  • @joegar317 who cares? that's part of an impromptu totally live concert.

  • definately wanted to be apart of it, truely a magical momment

  • this is awesome.

  • UNBELIEVABLE!!! I've never seen anything like this before

  • I hope one day Arcade Fire flash mobs me with Wake Up.

  • lucky people...

how I wish I was there..

    what a scene!!!

  • just listening to that clip gave me goosebumps

  • I will add my desire to others that have been expressed: I want to be in that crowd more than I want Halloween candy.

  • awesome but where did win go in the beginning ? =/

  • I think the power of music is incredibly under-appreciated. This made me smile.

  • epic.

  • this song was made for situations like this.

  • i totally agree with you!!

  • Spot on, damn skippy, dead right-o, my friend.

  • goosebumps

  • Being there would have made my life.

  • Wow!

  • wow I wish I was there.

  • Gave me goosebumps.

    Love it.

  • One of the greatest musical performances ever imho.

  • HAHAHAHAHA!!!! 5:37 "you gotta look out below!" fail

  • Lmao, that and the clapping guy made me almost piss myself :D

  • They are genius!

  • amazing

  • Whoa. That is completely amazing.

  • Wow woweewoweewow

  • Chills...

  • Now that's what love for music means!

  • I hate people who suck at clapping in unison. The guy at 5:14 is a great example.

  • This comment made me laugh =) especially when I saw the guy lol

  • Woo french horn! :D

  • How awesome is that!!!?? :) instant happy place

    absolutamentayfrickinawesome :) :) :)

  • i love when they sing "i guess well just have to adjust" its funny that everyone feels the same strong emotions over that line

  • oh man... I was there. My best friend mistook the person filming for me (around 0.45 in), put his hand on her head and then realised his mistake - and thus bursts into laughter.

  • I would give BOTH my nuts to have been in that room.

  • Seconded. How awesome would that have been? I'm just glad it's on film.

  • Wow! Can't wait to see this in Where the Wild Things Are on Oct. 16. (b/t/w "impromtu" => "impromptu")

  • I heard the actual soundtrack was being done by someone else specifically. I hope this at least plays in the credits.

  • what's the point of HQ, the quality doesn't improve at all,

    GREATEST SONG EVER BTW D:

  • It bases it on the resolution of the video you upload. If it's bigger than the SD size, I think it automatically adds the option for HQ.

  • Jeez. Arcade Fire is good every where.

  • this makes me so happy to watch (: wish i could have been there.

  • beautiful and i agree with the other commenters that it's great when a whole crowd is in the moment spontaneously singing along

  • It's always a beautiful thing when people spontaneously sing together :)

  • I don't think that's Chris...Great performance though.

  • that nearly made me cry... I wish I could have been there

  • This is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen.

  • So nice song

please come see my acoustic cover (not a singer ;))

and don't forget"where the wild things are"

    merci

  • Ha, somebody steals the poster in the first few seconds.

  • Love this band worryingly much!

  • this gives me goosebumps......

  • seconded

  • truly amazing

  • Unbelievable! Hope they're still pulling these impromptu performances of this song - would be special to be a part of.

  • WTF i keep gettin goosebumps when i listen to this song

  • Wow. All I can say.

  • they never cease to amaze me, one of the most heartfelt performances i have seen

  • That's a band with a pure heart. That's a band who doesn't have a problem to play anywhere...This thing in my language is called ''merAki''!!It means that we play just to have fun and not in stages all the time, playin only just to make money...Greetings from Greece!

  • lol at the "you gotta look out for love!"

  • anyone know the tabs for the mandolin hes playing

  • the chords are C Am F G C I think. I'm not sure how he plays them, the camera is too far away.

  • can't help crying myself , but with joy. I really love the way the movie trailer edited with this song. and so great that it's so much about the spirit I found in them.

thank you for provide such livid video

  • That was absolutely stunning. I've been trying to catch this lot live for ages now. Must try harder!

  • Then you dont get life. Iam almost 50 years of age and this band are without any doubt unequalled in my life time. Brilliant concept, brilliant songs and fantastic live performers.

  • This is what makes a band so great!!!!

When a friend showed mw this and... magic!!

  • Wow, wow, wow. Oh, my.

    Incredible.

  • Damn! I just discovered these guys from the WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE trailer and I am speechless with how cool they are! Great performance!

  • I can't even explain how amazing they are.

I need to see them live. My life would be incomplete otherwise

  • tears and joy

  • "You gotta look out bellow" embarrassing.

  • Super F'n cool. One of the greatest live performances I've seen was watching Arcade Fire from the stage at Austin City Limits in 2005. Incredible. Super nice people as well.

We played this song at our wedding as we walked after the ceremony.....

  • They have the power to change society if they wanted to

  • Well, let's not go nuts....

  • *****!!!!!!

  • All of those people who got that close to one of their "Wake up" performances are all lucky SOB's! (not in a bad way). Amazing song, amazing band.

  • Sir Chris martins sucks!

    Vomito

    Pota

  • The Greeks, as usual, had a word for it. Look up "catharsis" in the dictionary and you'll find an audio clip of this song. I'm starting to think that there are no bad performances of this song. Didn't think anything could top it but realized while hearing this version that the song rocks whenever and whereever it's played. This is this generation's "Imagine". I'm not kidding. Read the posts. If you're not shredded by this song, I'm not sure you're human. You're certainly an a******, though.

  • I love this song myself, but you're overstating it a little, my friend. to each his own.

  • Im crying, haha

  • Chris Martin has to go out absorb all the better artists performances like a pre-programmed robot.... that is his way.

  • hey hey hey, don't insult Chris Martin.

  • Why not? Are you really that thin-skinned that you can't accept some people don't like him?

  • Who said I'm not accepting that some people don't like him? Where in my comment did I say that or imply that?

  • Oh, shit I dunno, maybe the "Don't insult Chris Martin" thing? If I'd have known you'd get so butt-hurt I wouldn't have said anything. Sheesh, forgive me. A lot of you Chris Martin fans seem to think he's a god or something. Sorry.

  • I'm not losing any sleep over this :)

My first comment wasn't even meant to be taken seriously. I actually meant it in a jokingly way. I couldn't care less if someone doesn't like Chris Martin. I understand that everyone has different opinions.

  • and btw, I don't think Chris Martin is a god. I'm a fan of Coldplay, not Chris Martin.

  • so awesome, great performers

  • just pure fuckin awesome.

  • You just aint human if the hairs on your neck n back dont stand up while listening to this, your utterly dead inside if they dont.

  • Oh shit...

  • Just soo beautiful

  • I love Arcade Fire.

  • Spy dove Parkpaid Hire.

  • This assures me that AF is one of the very best bands today. They could have simply gone out for a booze and forget about their fans, but they did this instead. They are inspiring not only as musicians, but as people.

  • I love Arcade Fire. What other bands would play outside and in an elevator?

  • This is one of the things u cant forget, those ppl there got something to keep and remember forever

  • brings chills .......
