did Jim Clark have a Engine failure or someThing he was leading by some margin Then he comes pasT slowish and you hear virTually no sound :( besT racer ever bar none however in my opinion :)
@monsterrocks He ran out of gas, more precisely he'd left still enough petrol in the tank to finish, but the pump could not catch it because of the sponges fitted into the tank to keep the petrol from rolling. He managed to finish third and the crowd carried him in triumph as the winner
An astonishing effort from Clark given how "easy" it was to go quickly at Monza - he must have driven pretty much faultlessly all the way through ; incredible. Stewart drove a very similar race in '73 at Monza to clinch the world title.
Clark was astounding in this race, so unlucky not to win.......do you think Schumacher or Senna would be able to unlap themselves and regain the lead?.....I think not!
was there in 1967. The Honda (1st) was not the fastest in the field. It won because the fastest cars broke down. The first few laps, the American Eagles (Dan Gurney's team) were out in front with no-one else in sight. I thought I was going to see a miracle. After (guessing after 43 years) about 5 laps they were DNF with some kind of mechanical. The same for about the next 3 or 4 fastest cars. The Honda kept going - the rest is history.
The late Raymond Baxter commentating. Back in the 1960s and early 70's he was actually the voice of F1's then limited TV coverage, Murray Walker was more usually heard on either the radio or on motorbike racing. He took over the F1 commentary full time in 1976.
Excellent race though eh? Dont have finishes like that now!
its in the late 60s ...... why its black and white ... it must had been colored right
