the soprano's costume is not appropriate to her physical appeareance, which makes it grotesque and distracting. This is insulting and demeaning to the art work....Poor Mozart, if he were to be awaken from his tomb....
@lunchedmanagement yes, I did notice the sets, and what does that have to do with the grotesque costumethe singer is wearing? Do you seriously like how she looks in that dress? She's supposed to be the queen of the night, sophisticated and powerful...
P.S: if you were closer to the truth in art than me you wouldn't need to look down on me and provide a demeaning adjective to my statement or ask rhetorical questions as if I were a fool
ROTL what a funny Magic Flute!!! Normally I am picky about productions but this looks like a lot of fun. I was lol'ing when she came out of the bar drunk! Haha!! Anyway I looked Aline up because I had never heard of her and she will be doing Magic Flute this season here at the Detroit Opera. Hearing her and seeing these comments, I am verry excited to know the Queen of the Night's is going to be great!!!
There needs to be a recording or a production released on video of The Magic Flute with Aline Kutan singing the part of the Queen of the Night. I saw her perform the part with Orchestra London about a year ago and she was fabulous. She hit those high notes with authority and made the aria sound like the cry of rage that it is. Not many singers do that really well.
This is the same prodction as in Nürnberg, Germany...
I was watching during the rehearsals and couldn´t help myself... It really made me laugh, when the Queen of the night, drunk as hell, came out of the Apres-Ski.-Club and began to sang.... But Hrachuhí Bassénz (Queen of the Night) did a great Job.
Do you have by chance Mr. Shrader's 'Dies Bieldnis ist bezaubernd schön'?
