Now in Canada they say we should say happy holiday instead of Merry Christmas to not offend people of other faith. I say screw them, I will never stop saying Merry Christmas and if they don't like it they can go back where there is no christian holidays. They are social parasites in our country now.
We were so much happier then when people talked to each other and watched out for each other :( Today people are so cold and detached maybe the old saying will come true "Everything old is new again"
We were still getting over the war here in England in the early 50s, so I would say the 60s was our golden decade..but love the American 50s warmth and hope.
@frodo08830 "Snipe" is the correct term. It applies to the short lengths of film spliced into a show with general announcements like "Coming Soon" and "Our Feature Presentation," or advertising clips like you see for drive-in food. It's possible the term came from "snippets," but they've been called "snipes" as long as I can remember.
Fantastic!!!! Sigh .... If they ever get virtual reality to the technology of say the Star Trek Holodeck ... I think I would just live in virtual 1950's!!!

@cboncklis Thank you for posting this. I, too, refuse to say "happy holidays".

Who did the voiceover for the first snipe? It sounds almost like Marvin Miller ("Robby the Robot").

Unfortunately that charm is now gone! I know it wasn't perfect then but it was all so wholesome.
