@kingofbirds07 The NES version manages a perfectly competent version of the arcade favourite - as NES shooters go it's an undeniable success. The problem is that by the time it came out, the PC Engine had already delivered the goods.
I prefer the PC Engine version over the Genesis one. The music sounds great and the game looks more colorful. There is also a PS1 version on the compilation "Toaplan Shooting Battle 1" which also has arranged music like the FM Towns version,
Excellent idea, I love seeing comparisons of 16-bit era games across platforms. However, whatever capture device you used leaves a bit to be desired... The NES audio, while definitely the poorest, isn't nearly as terrible as in the vid. Sadly, this video does the PC Engine version no justice, this coming from a Sega fan. NEC's port is head and shoulders above the Genesis in most respects; details like the shimmering ocean are lost in the vid. Great job otherwise!

I used to love the music for Twin cobra when i played it in an arcade on holiday back when i was a kid - especially the name entry, which i heard a lot :-/
Still pretty good tunes by todays standards.
The remastered FM towns one sounds cool, but the nes version just sounds horrible!
@Jac2Mac it was rare that I had beaten Twin Cobra. I saw the ending for NES although some people may not believe it. Some other game systems had the ending for Twin Cobra.
Remastered soundtrack with CD quality audio. The graphics and game itself (lacking of TATE aside) appear to have the Marty version as the closest to the Arcade version/Arcade ports on the PS1 Toaplan Shooting Battle Vol.1.
I need cheats for the genesis version. the ones on the net do not work for me. Many sites list instant bombs, instant power ups, level select, & end credits cheats but i cant get them to work. Are they real cheats?
brings back memories for me, though only version ive played and have is Genesis, i still kinda wish the tanks in that version didnt look like blocks with smiley faces on em lol
I used to play this game with some friends on my floor in college (EIU, by the way...) and we'd play literally for hours on end at night....There was this awesome weapon that you would get towards the end of the game where the helicopter would shoot "Blue" power shots...but we would call it, "Blue Balls"....You could hear us clear down to the end of the hallway screaming, "I'VE GOT BLUE BALLS!!!!!!!!" People would peak in and say, "You've got what???" then they'd go...oh...Twin Cobra..ha!!
My favourite arcade shooter. Why couldn't this game be included in one of the Taito Legends compilations on PSII/X-box? Trouble with royalties I guess??
Very nice version of the arcade game, it's one tough game, but quite enjoyable. They don't make games this tough anymore, some call the difficulty cheap, but in actuality the difficulty is just right, bullets are well aimed to where you will go, so you have to improvise and go where they aren't. This and many other Toaplan shooters would do nicely in a collection, but it would likely stay in Japan.
nes has the best music, this video was weird

I,too, must side with the Genesis on this one that version had awesome music and fluid control.

but FM towns marty version wins in the sound from what I gather, I'm guessing it used CD-rom for this game.

One of my all time favorite shooters.
Best music scores.
I beat the Arcade back in the day with only one quarter.
Shout out to anyone from my old hood in Brooklyn, NY around 139 Rogers Ave. The arcade room in the store was the hangout spot when I was a kid. lol
This game bring back great memories.

The thing I hate about games like this is that you can't always tell what's part of the background, and what will kill you if you hit it.

However the NES version does have an ending whereas the arcade and FM Towns version do NOT have one at all.

FM Towns Marty by a long shot.

Genesis is a distant 2nd place.

@cutejoshie Ouch. Treco's 1991 MD version is an utter disaster: late, ugly, glitchy, lazy and botched.
Pack it in, Treco. You suck. You can't even spell 'Cartridge' (see Japanese box).

cool! I had no idea what the FM Towns Marty was until recently, and I found this video by looking it up here.
The NES audio is messed up, but this is still very cool. I'd like to see more cross-platform comparisons like this. Thanks!

The NES version sounds very weird in this video. I've played the actual game, and it doesn't sound that bad.
