The 260 outperforms the 4870x2 in every test except at maximum resolutions with AA and AF up full in crysis and COD4. Also any other game that supports dual video cards will be better optimized for the 4870x2

I own ATI 4870 with DDR5, and I think Nvidia and ATI are great both.

It's true that GTX 260 is 10-25% (20% mostly) faster in performance. But the 4870 is 25-40% cheaper.

What to choose?

GTX 260 = GREAT performance, but a little more bucks to pay the bang. Choose if you want extreme gaming.

ATI 4870 = Almost as GTX 260, but you pay a little less. Buy it, if you think you can't offer the GTX =)

Not really... If you look at benches, they're pretty much the same in performance, but in some games the 4870 edges the GTX 260 out.... But those results are thrown out the window when talking about the GTX 260 Core 216.... An overclocked version can beat a stock GTX 280, and we all know the GTX 280 stomps on the 4870.. ;)

It's not to say the 4870 is a bad card, because it isnt... But there are definitely better GPU's out.

I just ran a test between my brothers 260 and my 4870 and they are right his computer kicked my butt.We have the same exact setup except video cards.

For now this it is true. NVIDIA kicks ass over the 4780. Upsetting for me. Especially since the current ATI drivers suck and my card is so dang hot. Maybe new ATI drivers will make the up the difference.
