David Sylvian blends lyrics and music in ways that are... out of this world. Intelligent, but not smartass, artistic but not artyfarty. This album is one of my all time favorites, the contrast of Stina Nordenstams voice to his is pure bliss!
Again, Indrid's voice just soothes like nothing. Nine Horses is just an incredible album (actually, two, since there is a 'remake' of sorts). Katrina, I hope you have started investigating Sylvian's work...there are so many great works in his repertoire. Check out Raintree Crow (another band name of his, using his Japan mates), Sylvian's Dead Bees on a Cake, Brilliant Trees...heck, might as well start with is 'greatest hits,' Everything and Nothing. Everything good, nothing crappy!
Ive had... David Sylvians The Librarian removed for infringing copyright by someone called ( Nonplace )..Ive Googled you and listened to your track (The Librarian) and all I can say is get a F--king life you sad twats ...
I've been a Sylvian fan for ever more but haven't bought so much of his newer stuff. This is one of the best he's written and has blown me. The hypnotic element MAKES it what it is. It needs to be structured as it is. It has such a lovely feel/sway to it. How beautiful.
Freetobefreddy, it would be lovely if you could learn how to put a sentence together. If you don't like it, fine, but if you must post something negative at least do it in a constructive way.
Since our friend here seems to fail at intellectually criticizing this song I'll do my best. I'm a HUGE Sylvian fan, he's in my humble opinion the best vocalist since blue eyes. However, I just find that the melody in here is too monotonous for it's own good. Before you say that I probably just don't like slow tempo stuff, consider the fact that my favourite Sylvian tune is Darkest Dreaming.... wonderfully talented man, but I really don't believe this is him at his best.
You have so missed the point !!! Sylvian here, is turning his hand to an inner city jazz balad so comaparison with unrelated work is pointless. He really is that brilliant that he can turn his hand to any style of music and create perfection in the process.

Isn't this the voice of Stina Nordenstam? She sounds incredibly similar to the one in the song.

I think that David Sylvian is also the best jazz singer.
His music has good atmosphere and fragrance of good modern jazz.

Hypnotic and painful. As should be any song about loss and desire. Thanks for sharing!

For anyone that doesn't know why it might be a hard album to listen to:
It is basically David's "diary" on the breakup and divorce from his wife Ingrid!
The challenge of all our hearts!

@Shamanburning Surely you are talking about Blemish. By comparison Snow bourne sorrow is easy listening!
