As I understand it, Dick Clark's gotten credit for starting the lip synch with American Bandstand. I'm not sure it was a good idea, just like that guy, Andy Hildebrand, who invented Auto Tune. I *know* that wasn't a good idea.
@mercmarc Yeah, it was a lip synch performance, but what you need to understand is a lot of that went on in the 60s, 70s and 80s. It wasn't the choice of the artist to do it, but a decision of the record company's, and when you're under contract you have to go with the flow. They deliberately wanted the "live" tv performance to mimic the album version. It was done as a mere marketing strategy to promote sales of the current single.
Wow ! I love Cyndi! She is very active still here in New York City! Listen to her music every chance I get she is one of the originals who made music what it is today! thanks for your music!
Same, I've never seen this before! This must've been shortly after the She Bop video, because her hair's still very short at the side. It's so fun to watch her run around on stage and interact with the audience. Even then, she had that special connection.
the panet earth would be totally empty without Cyndi Lauper in it.
thank you for posting this video
