Corsair 500W HTX 12V... wow.. you could not know what im talking about but you'd still know its about power with a name like that it just screams.. POOOOOWWWWEERRR!!!! >:O
Hello, im planning on having an intel sandy bridge 3.4ghz, an asus p6p67 pro, msi geforce gtx g70, and a xspc rasa liquid cpu cooling kit. would a corsair gs800 be enough for it? i dont trust some of the psu calculators out there. i usually buy cases that alrdy have a psu but not this time, thanks in advance for the help. oh and i dont think im going to OC that much, only rarely.
My old pc psu costed me a whole 12 hour.It kept on shutting down while I was trying to install windows.Result:an HDD full of installation errors, missing windows components, wasted time and broken keyboard feet.Just listen to him and get a corsair.Won't regret it.
Pretty obvious plug for Corsair, but he does a good job of explaining precisely why you should NOT necessarily go for a cheap power supply. My old Rosewill 850W PSU was a tempting $80 when I bought it, and literally exploded on me 2 years later. Tom's Hardware has a more detailed article on the subject.
Wow... you should change the name of your video from how to choose a power supply to Buy Corsair power supply. Your video does not explain how to choose a power supply for systems with variable hardware setup, but rather how many ports a Corsair power supply has. You're not telling me how to choose, you are telling me What to choose. This video should be labeled as spam.
the problem is that i bought a GTX560 Ti and when i connect it to the pc(after disconnecting the other GPU) it says that there aint enough ppower... can someone please help me and tell what power supply i have to get? THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH.
@pcigroot No it doesnt. The power supply will draw only as much power as is being used by your components. If you have a 850w psu, your psu will not always draw 850w from the wall, that is unless your computer is drawing 850w.
I have a quad core processor on a micro atx with a NVIDIA 9600 512mb a 320gb hard drive 4gb of ddr3 ram with a disc drive, is 480 watts enough for this???!!
@Zraupp10 They are alright for the price but also consider that the wattage on the 12v rail is only usually 2/3 to 3/4 of the total rated wattage of the psu. This is important because th only power demanding componets use the 12v rail so therefore you want as much wattage on the 12 v rail as possible. The corairs have almost 98% on the 12 v rail most of the time. Corairs are more expensive but worth it.
people say the hp power suply for comps are bad but really.. they're not it was a proven form of taking less power that worked more than fine and did not need more. It was a form of power taking without flaw ( unless ur a serious gamer lol) and is fine as it is
My TX650w just came in today, now the warranty, do i have to go to the website and enter the serial number anywhere? or do i just tell them the serial number if i have to get it replaced for a new one?
Tiger direct is sucking real hard.. These product reviews consist of mostly useless items such as HDMI connections which are self explanatory. Thinks like Ac Power adapters and laptop cleaning kits. Also spelling mistakes all over the place. The biggest problem is the lack of tech updates and when there are, they are short and suck badly. Tiger direct you better get your act together you are really pissing people off and loosing customers
@amoghthegamer AMD Athlon II x4 620 @ 2.6ghz, Still on the hunt for a graphics card , This PSU almost broke me lol, on a budget. 4gb Gskill ram, Seagate 500gb HDD,
If you have under $200 left for a GPU, get a Radeon 5770. If you have under $275 to spend get a 5850, under $325 get a 5870, and under $400 get a 5950. : )
My god I think the host actually used the Ipad for something useful that could be used for quick and easy access that allows a straight recording session.
He has answered part of the question of what to use an Ipad for.
I have an Ultra X3 650watt Black PSU, and it has done really well, and stayed cool, for the money i would say go for an Ultra PSU or an Antec PSU, with a good Antec case, like the Antec 300 for a nice budget gamers build. :-)
I like these new advice vidoes. Saves me from having to explain to new guys. I just give them the link. When i'm looking for power supplies, I always make sure it has dual or multiple rails, and also Active PFC. And honestly speaking, there are better power supplies out there than the Corsair series but are similarly priced, like the Antec TPN 650W I mentioned. If they're the same price but one gives you more power than the other, why would you go for the weaker one?
@SweSparky I actually have the HX620 myself. I keep in touch with the market though because I do builds for friends/family members, and usually have pre-made configurations in mind. For gamign systems, my current configuration uses the Antec TPN 650W because of its 80+ Bronze certification and its 94a on the +12v rail. That's not a typo, I didn't believe it at first either and had to check on two other sites before accepting it.
@SweSparky Why don't you just go look it up? A simple Google search will show that I'm not lying. Newegg, Antec, and multiple review sites will all agree on what I just told you. And the output is rated for continuous load @ 50C, just like the HX 650/750 is.

@espn1337 For what it's worth, Ultra gives their power supplies a lifetime warranty so, theoretically, if it should ever fail, then the warranty would cover replacement. Not sure how they compare to Corsair, though.
Think he meant Semi Modular.

mother board= 50 watts
ram 50 watts(this is the maximum amount)
fans 5-8 watts a piece
drives = 25 watts apiece (optical and hdd)
cpu = tdp(depends on what you buy)
newest video cards =230 watts+
then account 20% to total will give you the minimal psu you need to build a system.

How future proof are power supplies?
Thinking of gettin g a 750 or 650w and do you think it will last me 3-4 years?

@espn1337 For what it's worth, Ultra gives their power supplies a lifetime warranty so, theoretically, if it should ever fail, then the warranty would cover replacement. Not sure how they compare to Corsair, though.
