Sorry, I meant they offered to fix my unit if I sent it back to them. Good thing the "drain and charge overnight" method worked. I would have hated the hassle of sending them back my unit.

oh and a sign that the battery has been charged full is when the USB light stops blinking, meaning it's "steady." When I read the instruction manual, I thought they meant when the USB light goes dead/off. It wasn't until I charged it overnight that I saw that the USB light actually stays on and steady when the battery is already fully charged. hehe. I would stil suggest that you write to Flip Tech Support. They offered to replace my unit when their initial solutions weren't working.

btw, my "drain and chrage overnight" was done with the Flip Power Adapter that I got. It didn't really work when I tried to charge in the USB port of my Macbook.

when I unplugged the Flip the next morning, the battery was fully charged. Yay!

But to be safe, you can write the Tech Support of Flip from their website. They reply within 24 hours. My method was actually a twist on their proposed solution. They taught me to "reset Flip then charge overnight." But it wasn't working. So I did the drain thing instead.

I did the "drain empty and charge overnight" method and it worked. I used the battery until a "low batt" msg appeared on the screen. Then I plugged it into the power adapter. Initially, there was no sign of life from the Flip (USB light was OFF), even though my power adapter was lit green. It wasn't until after 3 hours that the USB light started blnking. Then it stopped. After abt 20 mins, blinks again. Then stopped. This went on several times so I just let it stay plugged overnight.

For the love of god please turn off continuous autofocus on your camera. Or at least stop confusing it by constantly changing the depth of field by moving your hand so much.

You need to be much more concise with a review like this. There is no reason for this to be ten minutes long.

Just got mine today and when I tried charging it with the power adapter, it would only charge for a few minutes then stop blinking. Accdg to the manual, when it stops blinking, it means the battery is fully charged. But when I check the battery indicator, it's only half- full. Heeeelp! Are my batteries busted?

I am having the same problem. The battery is not charging anymore and I have had it for only 4 months but the warranty expired in 3 months. Well I had fun with it for 4 months but don't know if $218 paid for it was worthy.

Hey Bazm. Same thing just happened to me. Love the camera, but after 4 months, battery failed. The last time it powered up, it gave me a 'low battery' warning before turning off, and never worked again, even after doing system reset (inside tripod base). I have a feeling lithium battery went bad. Bummer cause the unit rocked. If I do one again, I'll do extended warranty

I recommend that you email customer service and they may be able to fix it for you. It is not good for their business to have products that fail right after the 3 month warranty. Hopefully they may have had a bad batch and they will fix them for free.

Bazm...So far, customer support with them has been ok...we've been sharing troubleshooting options, but still nothing is working. As you said, it is going to be interesting to see if a bad batch of units got out of if I have a 1 off bad unit and how they respond. I'm an early adopter of technology and have quite a following, due to my IT job at a major telecom company on suggestions for devices of all kinds. The ability to resolve my issues will be key to future positive reviews to my clients

Updated status. Just got a note from Flip Support that a unit (not sure if new, original unit or refurb) is on it's way. I'll let you know what the final result is, but it looks like they are going to give me a replacement, which is sweet. I will then have that and a Sony Webbie HD, which I picked up and will do a comparison.

Sounds like the camera is auto focusing or something and zooming in and out optically.

1) From what I've heard (I am getting mine in a few days) the sound is very good. It has what's called an omnidirectional microphone, which means that it will record well, from all angles,

2) No. Unfortunately, you can't attach an external mic.

3) As for recording in Full HD, you can get 60 minutes out of it. As I'm sure you know, you CANNOT put in any external sort of memory, so 60 minutes is what you get. Battery Live = 2 hrs

It works pretty well in the dark. As for quick moving, it also works fine. Nothing to be worried about, but nothing to be really impressed.

The USB is for connecting to the computer. Their are other cables for connecting to the TV, that you may be able to use for recording gameplay. I don't think so though.
