  • However: either my information is incorrect or yours is. I contacted the park service out of a concern for safety re: that hatch, and they told me while the land above it was theirs, the hatch and silo beneath it is owned by the air force.

No matter either way. Glad you guys got down there.

  • When did you contact them? The silo has been pretty well re-re-re-sealed after having been re-opened several times...someone has gone out and filled it with concrete ;P Kinda frustrating but oh well.

As for the park service - I don't know what they do/don't know but the land technically has no legal owner. I wouldn't be surprised if the air force considered the silo theirs even if they DID technically abandon it. Ill chat with some legal folks and see what they have to officially say about it.

  • Oh this is excellent. You found the shot up hatch by the mine - you can see me video-ing it quizically in the video on my channel.

I didn't know what to expect, nor did I know if there were animals down there, or if it was alarmed, so I didn't climb down. Plus I was by myself. Glad you guys did, though! Very cool.

  • I've been down in the sites around Wichita more than 250 times. The only difference is that our missile sites were full of real, active stuff. I was on a launch crew and pulled alerts at 17 of the 18 sites around Wichita in the early 70's.

You guys be careful, these old Titan II sites are full of very toxic "stuff". Wear a respirator for sure!

Email me, I'd like to know where this one is. I've seen some of the old sites around Tucson but only one had been "unearthed".

  • Holy shit. The last video of one of these silo's I saw, it was completely FUBAR. This one is in beautiful condition. I say that if someone were to sneak a fairly good generator to it, you could repower the damn thing. Beautiful place for a closed silo. The vagrants can't get in. (Vagrant= BUM)

  • Great video. Just a suggestion: Maybe blur the faces rather than pixellate to make it less distracting?

  • The silo looks to be a good shape for renovation.

  • Not a bad site - it appears that one could easily renovate this site.

  • Finding it wasn't too hard. I'd say it isn't exactly respirator optional. Funny, the Titan Missile Museum silo smells like mineral oil. This place smells like the opposite. Concentrated rust. My hats off to you for the intestinal fortitude to enter this godforsaken hole in the ground. We're off to Peppersauce Cave to get used to dark, enclosed places.

  • Yeah no kidding... We now have respirators thankfully. Thanks for the comment :)

  • Great vid! Silo looks to be in pretty good shape too. I wish I could explore a silo like that.

  • Funny that you block out your faces but touch everything with your bare hands not using gloves.

  • There's so much fail in your message that I don't even know where to start.

  • Looks familiar :)

  • Lol you've been? ;)
