I think the atheism vs religion debate is more important than the anarchy vs state debate. I kind of like communism because it suppresses religion. Yet I don't really agree with all its tenats. I really see christianity as a mental desiese that can spread from brain to brain. I kind of consider myself now a days to be a maoist capitalist. I think capitalism has many good things about it, but it should also have checks from a government. And religion should have 0 place in that government.
see to me, believing in the religion of the state is far more dangerous then believing in some church or god. believing in the state has implications right now, tangible ones. that is if i believe in the bible or whatever im not extorting money from someone or propping up an institution that blows up children. the free market is just an expression of human interaction and action, no arbitrary entity can make it 'work better'. heres the problem though, the state is a religion.
a free world with no states isn't very possible in my opinion, but it would be more possible in an athiest dominated world. Whats worse, government officials that say what should we do about x, or goverment officials that say what does the bible say we should do about x? Capitalist governments are passing anti blasphamey laws around the world not because they care about truth, but because they want to better sales to religious dominated states and people.
400 years ago saying a non-monarchical state existing was also about as "impossible". there is also no such thing as a capitalist state, thats an oxymoron. capitalism is the free market with no state, what we have always had is forms of what we would now call fascism, and of course anyone with some semblance of intelligence would say fascism is bullshit.
the f word gets thrown around a lot. i could describe a democratic society 400 years ago. Pro democratic forces would topple the government and then hold election. i don't really know what anti staters would do. would they just topple the state and go home? what would happen to existing companies like google and mcdonalds, would they be destroy? who would get all the military stuff? would it be illegal for towns to make laws? in a way, its almost like a prisoner saying we don't need a warden
Yeah but it actually applies here. Its going to take a bit, its not an overnight thing. But see i dont need to answer all your questions to have a valid point. If your worried of uncertainties in a stateless society, then look at the state, there is no certainty with that. But tell me, how is statism going to continue? How is this myth, (which is dying) going to continue for much longer. Maybe 100 years more? Maybe? But if you want answers, you cant just ask me, you have to go and find the
answers. I mean these issues have been covered in detail by people on youtube and other websites, books and all other types of sources really. Look up austrian economics, polycentric law, emergent order, unlimited individualistic secession, voluntary societies ect
In the US - for all practical purposes - the 'religion of the state' IS the state religion! Which is enabled & reinforced by organized religion.
As we both went to Catholic schools, you know as well as I do it's the twooth:p
Agreed: the 'religion of the state' is far more dangerous overall then even the worst of sectarian religious fanaticism. Though the latter can be quite useful to the state as a 'distraction' - as we see with the uber religions right in the US!

Last night, I went on Youtube and watched a couple videos, when I noticed I couldn't rate or leave comments on any videos. The buttons were all there, but they weren't working. Youtube wasn't doing maintenance or anything. It seems like I run into some kind of problem with Youtube every time i use it. The comments system in general completely sucks ass.
maybe your emails are being filtered out or something. Or maybe they got disabled somehow? i think it's under account settings. If not, I wouldn't worry too much, I disabled my YT emails a long time ago :)
gmail is the best email to use for youtube. I've had this problem before and I was never able to fix it. The whole google account/gmail account/youtube account thing is pretty confusing sometimes.

Is that a Ralph Steadman shirt?
787Bisurdaddy 2 years ago
Actually, that shirt looks like the artist Jackson Pollock came back from the dead - went on a bender - and painted that shirt.
(look him up....you'll get it lol)
19lfm12 2 years ago
I know who Jackson Pollock is. It looks much more like a Ralph Steadman painting than a Pollock.

As I left high school (equivalent) in 1979 and left college in 1984 - anything about how you see the system is interesting.
