Measurements show a decline in those frequencies related to CO2 absorption. Namely in a band centered at 667cm^-1. No known natural cause can account for the current warming trend, neither the Milankovitch cycles that causes the Ice Ages (have to wait 50,000 years for the next one of them), nor the sun (decreasing TSI since the 1970's. The only climate forcing agent that correlates with the current trend is the increasing atmospheric CO2.

Additionally, the warming itself has the signature of increased GHGs because the warming is in the lower atmosphere, not the upper atmosphere. So we know that the Earth is warming due to human emissions of CO2.

If there were especially warm years or decades that resulted in a net loss of ice... aren't those years and previous years that may have melted missing from the record completely?
ice core layers are checked against known events like volcanic eruptions. Known eruptions typically leave a layer that is like a fingerprint in sediments around the planet. These fingerprints have been carefully identified in the ice core record, giving a great deal of credibility to the accuracy.
A general rule-of-thumb to remember is that if a layman can think of a potential issue with a scientific method after a few seconds of thinking about it, you can be sure that scientists with PhDs in their field have thought about it too.
I've commented before. I'd suggest that most of those who do not accept AGW do NOT believe in a conspiracy. We don't think it's "mind control". We don't think it's governments trying to fool us into slavery.

Measurements show a decline in those frequencies related to CO2 absorption. Namely in a band centered at 667cm^-1. We are increasing the partial pressure of CO2 above the ocean and the oceans are trying to maintain equilibrium. climate change is based on 30 year trends not "It was colder last year". Oscillations do not matter when discussing the energy imbalance of the planet they just redistribute heat.

Nasa has only been collecting satellite weather data since 1970. Where did they get the "data" for 1900-1970?
If Nasa, composites hand written "almanac" data, and "tree ring" data with satellite data, then Nasa has in fact "abstracted" these "graphs". They mean nothing, there is no proven relationship between abstract graphs, and Co2 causing any warming trend.
We will only understand the relationship, when we have 100 or so years of continuous stable data. At the current time we don't.

I am not sure about 180 record but there was a spike about 3000 years ago that brought the temperatures about 5 deg C warmer then today.

The only CO2 graph one sees is the Vostok one again.

No mention of CO2 whatsoever. Why not? The ice cores are taken from glaciers high up in the mountains and should have presented a beautiful CO2 record for the past 2000 years.

1) Our emissions completely dwarf volcanic emissions: tinyurl(dot) com / 39rkta3
2) Read up on the Carbon Cycle, volcanic CO2 has been in equilibrium with the CO2 sinks for a very long time. That's why CO2 levels have been stable until now.
3) If even the baseline volcanic CO2 dominated the rising CO2 levels, we would see massive spikes during eruptions, which we do not.

@tubiejonny It appears that you accept that the Earth is warming, so here is why we know it is anthropogenic in nature. No known natural cause can account for the current warming trend, neither the Milankovitch cycles that causes the Ice Ages (have to wait 50,000 years for the next one of them), nor the sun (decreasing TSI since the 1970's. The only climate forcing agent that correlates with the current trend is the increasing atmospheric CO2.

@tubiejonny Since the increasing atmospheric CO2 has the isotopic signature of fossil fuels, and not of natural CO2 emissions, we know that the increased CO2 is anthropogenic in nature. Additionally, the warming itself has the signature of increased GHGs because the warming is in the lower atmosphere, not the upper atmosphere. So we know that the Earth is warming due to human emissions of CO2.

A possible problem with ice cores for dating?
If there were especially warm years or decades that resulted in a net loss of ice... aren't those years and previous years that may have melted missing from the record completely?

ice core layers are checked against known events like volcanic eruptions. Known eruptions typically leave a layer that is like a fingerprint in sediments around the planet. These fingerprints have been carefully identified in the ice core record, giving a great deal of credibility to the accuracy.

@ezeeskank Mann 2008 was based on about 1750 proxy data sets. And that's just one out of 10 projects reconstructing the past 2000 years. Even Mann 1999 used around 400 proxy sets.

Dear Greenman3610, Relying on isotopes ratios over the centuries is a dangerous thing. Since 1945, it is extremely heard to carbon date things because of the nuclear age. Can you comment on the accuracy of using these ratios to compare Oxygen isotope ratios in ice cores from before and after the dawn of the nuclear era?

That's a non issue.
Prior to the nuclear age, the cores can be calibrated against known events like volcanic eruptions etc.
Since the nuclear age, we have actual instrumental data with which to compare core data.
More recent decades are not reflected in the core data, since it takes 50 years or more for compacting snow to settle enough to be useful.
