  • Are they're tutorials on how to build this? Or a similar robot?

  • Hi. Props for your work and your robot. But dude, this does neither look nor walk like a real spider. Spiders are damn fast, man. Also, what good is just walking? It should be able to attack, defend, maybe fight another robot. I mean, I believe real-world spiders are someone's robotic project too, but they have a real habitat, they have to hunt, that makes their being sort of make sense. A robot spider controlled by a remote does NOT make any sense, sorry.

  • @jbase44 You seem to not know or apreciate whats going on...The field of legged robots or vehicles will play an important role in the future...Wheeled vehicles rely on paved surface or similar whereas walking robots could move around any terrain pretty much like humans or animals do...Also you seem to think that imitating nature's design is somethin easy to do??...To move as fast as a spider you will need very fast processing at times not too mention good closed loop control...

  • to get the smoothness in the joints, is that expensive servos or good programming???

  • I hope i have done good programming ;), the great hardware from Lynxmotion helps too, the program comes with my free software "PowerPod", it helps to configure the robot and generate the Basic Program for the Basic Atom Microcontroller on the bot..

  • The Basic Program contains the real time Inverse Kinematics, DualShock II support and the gait handle, the Basic Atom send the Commands (interpolated steps and key steps) to the SSC-32 card, this last one controls the servos (pulses) and synchronize "group" servos, computing speeds for each servo to reach simultaneously the requested point

  • it's missing rotation on the primary leg joint (to the body). this would enable it to 'twist' its legs to cover more ground / gain more speed. It would also make much longer lower leg portions useful, since they could be angled better. maybe next revision will have it?

congrats to the designers. 5 stars

  • Amazing, this is an example of modern control. Electrical engineering loool ......

  • MASSIVE DAMAGE

  • Amazingly smooth movement.

  • beautiful but unpractical ...a little bit of simplicity will give it more potential

  • i want one..

  • make one then

  • and he have this giant enemy crab... lol

  • go crazy crab robot!!!!! go go!!!

    its great dude

  • fantastic!!!!!

  • Amazing! Wish i had knowledge to build one, or at least keep one as a pet xD

Just curious - How much cash did the building process consumed? (You know, parts and stuff)

  • You should check at Lynxmotion website ;)

it's in "products=>Hexapods", this one is an AH3-R.

Take a look in the "Robotic Arms" area too, there's some cool stuff in !

  • Just curiosity. I'll never be able to afford things like this.

  • you can afford anything if you save up for it :)

I work at walmart and ALMOST have enough to buy the kit for it.

  • thanks ill have a look at the site!

  • dude thats not a tripod thats a hexapod.

    but its so cute!

  • its a tripod GAIT. that means that it has three legs on the ground at a time while raising and moving the other three. a gait is just the method that the robot uses to walk.

  • cool

  • 1. can u remote control it

2.can u attach gizmos (cameras, flashlights etc.) to it

  • 1. this one is controled with a Playstation 2 wireless controller (a Madcatz 2.4Ghz one), you can see the translucent receiver on the left side of the robot (first few seconds of the video)

    2. you can attach what you want on it, sensors, wifi camera, paintball gun...

  • Paintball gun is the best XD! make sure u post a video vhen u do that :)

  • this one is reaally really amazing! keep it on! :)

  • Imagine this being brought to the battlefields, wow :-)

  • Does it have terrain adaption?

  • new foot sensors are available at lynxmotion website for this hexapod, i'll work on terrain adaptation soon (using a two axis accelerometer in addition)

  • Best one I've seen so far. Simple and clever.

  • Wow that's really cool

  • thats insane

  • it almost look 3d dont you think? wow its quite amazing how people could come up with this stuff!

  • Nice !

  • ccccccccccccccooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooollllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

  • Its a replicator even sounds like one.(StargateSg-1) Cool.

  • Ah!!It Is Cute!!So Lovely!

If it can carry more heavy things~

I Think It Is Very Useful!

  • nice architecture, so simple and so effective. Thats definetly the best i've seen yet. How did you play animations? Are they prerecorded somehow in some simulation software or it's all hardcoded in to IC's firmware?

  • this is awesome

  • nice :P

  • lol this looks and acts like a replicator on stargate :D

  • nice robot....

  • can i buy one from YOU???

  • Sure ! ;o) take a look at lynxmotion's website, see the link clicking on "laureatus" to see my profile and check the link in "laureatus channel", website : lynxmotion dot com

  • how much would one of thoes cost?

  • That's friggin' sweet.

  • I think this could be a better robot for mars exploration.Fit it with the same gadgets that Spirit and Opportunity.

  • where can i get one of these!?

  • lol, build 'em.

  • Cute.

  • u kno what would make this vid funny? at the end... it gets run over by a car!

  • That was cool when it alternated raising three legs. And when the servos failed at the end and it curled up hehe. Good job! (hey and no chain comments yet!)

  • nice how much would 1 of those costes btw?

  • yea me yoo 20/20 you're skilled man, it's even as scary as a real spider.

  • very cool though, top stuff 10/10

  • scale it up to 200ft tall, and take over the world...

  • it's planned muhaaa haaaa haaaaaaaaaa

  • next, make it "run" and "jump". that would be supasweet!

  • :) that would be nice but i don't think this robot can jump. Legs are to short and servos are to slow(but powefull) to kick the robot fast enought.

  • :) that would be nice but i don't think this robot can jump. Legs are to short and servos are to slow to kick the robot fast enough.
