Great cover as ever. You are brilliant to learn from and my playing is really improving. Could you tell me/ do a short tutorial on the break here. I've most of it down but the part starting on th F sharp on the A string that i think goes up in 5ths I just can't get my head around. I don't know if you can describe in words or not:) any help would be great and keep doing these great vids!! Andy UK
@andycantouris hey- i attempted at least to send you a little vid explaining this. let me know if it reached you. youtube's user interface is surprisingly terrible.
Great job with a great tune, both playing and singing. I still remember having chills listening to Cockburn live on the King Biscuit Hour circa 1984-85, and was fortunate enough to have tape rolling.
Good job dude, love this tune too. IIRC, The fingering for the little pre-interlude lick thing (after the jumping up in fourths) is done on the 10th fret - no need to switch down to the fifth fret ... Bruce's hands are really big... I studied with Paul Bourdeau when he transcribed the Bruce book, and this chart was assigned for me to audit. Bruce confirmed he did it up the neck. I like what you have done with the improv parts. It think you have found the true the sense of the tune.
@ve3bow Interesting- the book actually has it at the 5th fret so apparently Bruce's feedback was ignored. The Bourdeau tab of that passage has always seemed a little off to me, but by the time I my ear was good enough to pick out passages by ear, the tab was so ingrained to me that I couldn't get past it. Those books are excellent & it says something that I can count the inaccuracies on one hand. (I believe Bright Sky is off a little too, which caused me no end of frustration...)
One note - I think the chord that begins the descending pattern on "Angel voices mixed with seabird cries" is a straight ahead D chord, not the Bm which you appear to be playing. I'm not sure how he's fingering it exactly, but it's going D-C#m-Bm-A.

The tab is in the songbook "All The Diamonds" OFC Publications and is very accurate..

Great work, as with all your Bruce covers.

I admire your playing!
