  • Holy snap explosion stomps.

  • You are performing the set with excellent hung gar type energy. I've also seen these forms done snappy and light, yet with power in mantis type of energy. Either way you are good, and I hope I can provoke (in a nice way) you to try a more mantis type jing in the fom, it could be fun to watch!

  • I had just "returned" to mantis after a long hiatus spent at a Hung Gar school when we recorded this lol

now that the weather is nice again, I'll be able to practice weapons at the park. Once I get this up to snuff I'll give it a go with mantis more in mind =)

  • @deejin25 I agree, it would be very aesthetically pleasing but also lots of fun!

  • Cool. i learned this form in CT but with some slight differences. I'll try to get it uploaded soon so you can see the differences between our styles.

  • I just learned that same form. It's called Continuous Broadsword and it's so fucking fun. I have take Aikido, Karate, Judo, and Takwondo.. I am learning Mantis now and it is so much more fun than the others. I recommend it.

  • After all the replys and commands of drchango2010 and Blasfulmous I want to say

I don't think this martial art is exiting

  • I was walking through it to see if I could remember that whole set since I hadn't practiced it in a long time, and honestly I don't much like that pattern either (which is why I hadn't been practicing it, lol)

  • Well thx for understanding.

I think you are very good at this martial art and I see you really sharp at it. Smooth and fast very nice

  • I don't video tape myself and post my forms so everyone that knows nothing or little about what I'm doing can judge me; I perform live. Also I prefer that people don't know I know what I know on the street. You followin' me here?

  • so by your logic you may well be someone who knows nothing or little about martial arts.

I record my sets so I can see what I am doing wrong and what I am doing well and adjust my training accordingly, and I post stuff on here for constructive criticism, and I'm pretty sure someone who has seen me do stuff on youtube isn't going to be the person that picks a fight with me, it's going to be some dumbass at a bar

  • I have been video taped, that's an old learning method. I don't know why you decided to bring it up.

Meaningless arguements over the internet isn't going to achieve a higher level of the art anyway.

  • to which I point out your original comment, which would be a reasonable thing to say if you were A) my instructor or B) someone whose opinion I had asked specifically. If you had some constructive criticism to offer, that would be different, but you didn't take that road and that brings us to the present.

"arguing on the internet is like competing in the Special Olympics. Even if you win, you are still retarded."

new subject: I really enjoy apples, don't you?

  • Well to be fair... I was an instructor as an advanced student so I'm used to pointing out these things. And you're contradicting yourself by saying you don't want my opinion considering A or B but you said you post video's for peoples opinions. hmm

    Apples are lovely.

  • remember the "constructive" part?

yes, apples are very lovely, just picked up some granny smiths at the supermarket

  • I never said you sucked or should give up. I just said you weren't ready for weapons. I guess I should have said you don't look like you're ready for dao.

    and.. lol

  • I don't think you're ready for weapons yet.

  • hmm...walking through a form I haven't touched in nearly four years

didn't see anything of you doing weapons...funny

  • oh well taekwondo has forms too but i see a pratic aplication in all hes moves but here there are certain moves that i cant understand what they used for... personaly i dont like this forms maybe cause i never donne them...

  • I'm not a huge fan of this form anymore, I don't even practice it, I practice the other broadsword form I have uploaded on here, lol

  • This form is called "Continuous Broadsword." It is the 1st broadsword set taught in Wah Lum Kung-Fu. You are missing many moves... actually looks like

all the quality moves have been removed.

Sorry to have to tell you that. The foundation is okay.

  • I'm like four guys removed from Wah Lum, and I don't even train with this set anymore. I think the version I learned had been modified repeatedly to add fancy stuff for tournaments and ever time it was "put back together" it ended up missing godd, practical techniques.

I don't even practice the form any longer, I prefer to practice a southern broadsword set I picked up from my Hung Gar instructor

  • now the 2nd, Basic Broadsword is the first

  • May I know the name of this form?

  • actually not sure what the formal name of this set is...since it was the only broadsword form in the curriculum it was always referred to as just 'the broadsword form' lol

the only weapon we had multiple forms for was staff, in which case the names of the forms became a necessity.

I'll try to find out, though, and pass along the info

  • nice form man ,and doing it in that court area..you didnt need any music in the background : )..sounded tight

  • thnx bro

  • great form. your moves are nice and solid.

  • thnx man
