I think it would be way cool! I've watched the surf board version of these on the ice and they get up to speed in a flash, plus you can stand-up. I doubt light weight synthetics helped much, other than the sails are made from a lightweight plastic canvas. You want the center of gravity as close to the ice as possible to stop from tipping in a strong wind. The actual haul on these boats looks to be almost solid lumber. The old clipper sailing boats had tons of lead metal the length of the keel.
