how the hell do i get it to work??? i bought an interface and plugged it in but sound from the microphone... i can get playback audio from my computer but no sound from the mic... so i just bought a $249 that wont even work... how the fuck do i get it to even record, this is bullshit!!!

The silica gel is to prevent moisture getting into the capsule of the microphone. Good idea to keep that in you case if you are going to store it in there :)

AKG are quality man. It all comes down to what your after in sound, i suggest (if you wan't to keep in the 'chain' of AKG) the AKG Solid Tube as an upgrade in the future. Thats what we're rockin. this mic is not all that its not good with girl vocals but the you can get the mxl v69 mogami edion for the same price and its alot better when you let it heat up for an day its crushing the 420 and you have to have both of them to find that out and the v69 looks better so

yes, the US-122l will take on any mic no problem, it will power phantom power 48v for condensor mics and regular mics.

May I suggest (if you use i a lot) putting the mic on a large stand and then hanging it upside down as apposed to upright. Reason being the pre-amp will heat up and cause the diaphragm to lose it's good tonal qualities.

Hanging it upside down will cause the heat to escape through the bottom of the mic as opposed to the diaphragm end.

thank you for the great tip, i only have it upright when its on my desk, but when im recording music (which i use it for most) its upside down on a stand like you suggested, i might have to change my setup so its upside down all the time. Again than you for this very helpful information.

That only applies to tube mics. Solid state mics don't need to be hung upside down because they don't heat up. This is a solid state mic.
