@utddr I hope by that you mean that the music of this film is awesome, as opposed to the film quality being bad. If the former, I couldn't agree more - if the latter, however, I couldn't agree less.
@LoliNana it's about drinking shrimp juice on a friday and being to young to drive and other such disabilities involving waking up with a hangover and having a dumb slut beside you..........wait..............ok yea thats right
MTV was actually good back in the day. It was the most artistic channel on TV. After boy bands & kiddie acts brought massive profits in the record industry, MTV sold out. They started reality TV. The Real World actually used be be good: dialogue amongst diverse cultures... then they found out drunken drama brings ratings. The formula of videos and MTV shows changed in the late 90's. Now, I can't stand the damn channel.
apparently some of the folks commenting are too young to remember that from the 80's until the mid 90's MTV was pretty fucking cool. You had 120 minutes, headbanger's ball, liquid television, Beavis and Butthead, Aeon Flux. Then came the real world and road rules and things went down faster than a lesbian skydiver.
Once upon a time MTV was not endless loops of Bam Margera and Ashton Kutcher fucking around peppered with retarded kids poorly rehashing Yo momma jokes older than the tellers.
@MagellansUnderwear yup, gotta give a shoutout to oddities too(the maxx and the head), and for any of you cats that love adult swims bumps, you can thank mtv for that too
yup, it used to be 'THE' way to find out about things. Now its just full of junk as the interweb has taken over. Hell they used to have regular industrial music programme!

Not quite sure but seems like mind control gone wrong. It reminds of David Lynch' s psychological twists and turns in some of his movies such as Inland Empire, though this is maybe a bit easier to follow.

i hate MTV and the whole money -cash show your ass productions ...those mainstream fucking-heroes such as LADYGAGA,RIHANA,LILWAYNE etc etc ... are killing Creation and Art ....
@harissaful To be fair, I don't think we were ever a part of 'pop' music's intended audience. Morons need their tunes too, I suppose. While I would love for the artists that I love to be making more bank, I think a smaller fanbase keeps them humble (sometimes) and and more able to retain their artistic integrity instead of becoming corporate money machines. The rest of the of the world can have it's cheeseburgers. I like my filet mignon RARE.
We did not change as we grew older; we just became more clearly ourselves. -Lynn Hall-.... Toyz would never change(those mainstream fu##in heros are nothing but a bunch of *marionette*)...Dont wait for the change .be the change.
PS: Actually am a big fun of the french cuisine. But not a meat lover ;)
@harissaful I see your point, but I honestly think that better music simply goes over the heads of the mainstream. We call music underground if it doesn't have large record labels pushing the sound, but good music CAN'T be 'hidden'. It's out there and has been. Seriously, give some consideration to the stereotypes that come to mind when you hear certain types of music. People that like the current generation of pop 40 bs wouldn't even comprehend the beautiful simplicity of something like this.
I agree that it is not rare, but an interesting fact is that this is actually the MTV version. It is a cut that has some different scenes and montage than the DVD version (which is almost two minutes longer). Seeing both helps to understand some things about the story... I actually like this version more.
Isn't killing a dead man a waste of bullets? You could have sent the bullets to the Third World, say to Bradford or something, where a Bangladeshi boy could use it on someone from a different village.
Well, it is not exactly "extremely rare" but it's good you have uploaded it.
One interesting thing to note is that it also exists in a different cut in the Live in NY DVD by Portishead. This is the cut that was aired on MTV. Try to spot the differences... ;-)
This is pretty melancholic, and he doesn't have a melancholic filmaker bone in his body. He would rape it inside and out... (don't get me wrong, I like most of his movies very much, it would be just wrong for him to touch this beautiful piece of work...)
"It begins with a rooftop assassination & centres on the reaction to it & understanding of it by a woman who was with the victim. But who was the victim? Is he dead? Who ordered the hit? This short film twists & turns in on itself all in the space of 10 minutes"
Yeah..wow..you got that one right...Portishead's music is so bleak that it makes people like Rob Dougan (my previous benchmark for depressing music) look like they're taking e...I mean..it's good..but wow..is it depressing...
Looking at Beth's eyes in this movie makes me want to cry
Finally! I have been wondering for the past ten years or so if this was really a movie or not, I have the "soundtrack". Great work, slick homage to '60s spy thrillers. Their new CD is great, tip-hop is gone but their work is indeed excellent as always!
