DEAR GOOGUS. Now I see the appeal of the syndicated show. Not PM, of course, it was terrific. The daily syndicated show always seemed rushed and forced, and the budget was obviously slashed because the Super Match questions were near impossible. These ticket plugs are absolutely brilliant; easily the highlight of most episodes from this run. Too bad about GSN cutting them out- they COULD air them if they'd take two seconds to put in a "This Show Is 30 Years Old Please Don't Write" graphic.
It's so weird seeing a ticket plug with no web address on it. The web would not come out for another 20 years or so.
The CBS building where they tape the Price Is Right is still at that address. I think it's always been in the same studio, and Match Game was also taped there, as well as many other game shows.
@jeopardy60611 Yeah, but even a long time after the internet became the way to go, "The Price Is Right" still had the Ticket Plug telling you to mail to the address presented above. I don't watch the show much anymore, but I think they tell you now to go online. I like the old way of how they used to do it. I have fond memories being a kid in the 90's seeing "Family Feud", and "The Price Is Right" showing you that address if you want to be in the studio audience or a contestant.
No one could top director Marc Breslow in the ticket plug department for Mark Goodson's game shows! Shame on Bob Barker for firing him from "TPIR" in 1986!
too bad GSN edits out the" face play" during some of these original promos: where Bret gets Charles nose and Fanny Flagg gets a guy's face. Very funny even without CGI.
I'm not sure that's true. According to the link for TPIR on the CBS website, you can still main in requests for tickets. In fact, some tapings have mail in only requests.
But seriously though, I miss this sort of thing. GSN is TOTALLY ruining it for us. Right now, for me, GSN is on life support, and failing fast! IF they got rid of Match Game, it's OVER!!!!!
Agreed. They are a part of "MG" lore and should be seen, esp. to a whole new generation of game show fans. I love how some of those plugs would break announcer Johnny Olsen up mercilessly!
This is one of those things that GSN is not showing.

I noticed:
in rotating lights, it's:
"many of our contestents and shows are from the studio audience..."
and the faces are:
"if you'd like to come out to the studio..."

I'm wondering if Mr. Goodson got the idea for the MG 90 opening graphics from some of these ticket plugs from the predecessor version.

I have heard that CBS returns the envelope to you, since they don't do tickets via mail anymore.

And MG chosen their contestants like TPIR; right from the studio audience.

The best part of these are the brief clips of original commercials! :)

Whoever at GSN decided that these funny ticket plugs should be cut out of their broadcasts of "Match Game" should be arrested.
