I personally think his lyrics are genius. He writes them just before he goes into the recording studio, so he mainly concentrates on the melody but none the less the lyrics are strangely poetic and I love them for that.

When he is not in the band - things are not good: Dave navarro experience and time before John - band was not popular. About bad lyrics - Anthony create them, I think anthony is nothing special compared to John Flee and Chad, but when John is in the band looks like Anthony is doing most of the job and he is the face of band, but it is not true.

Here is John, Flee and Chad also are very good but Johns guitar is the key to heart of most of the fans - if you see history of RHCP when John was in RHCP it become more popular, when he left - it became less popular.
