For all the people saying he didn't purposely kick the ball, you must have not seen the replay on TV because he CLEARLY lifted his foot up and kicked the ball on purpose. The reason behind it was probably because he just did it thinking he wouldn't actually hit the ball, much like when people stick their legs out to deflect a pass. Do you really think they are expecting to hit the ball? No. If they actually do, is it considered on purpose anyways? YES! and if all else fails, EXPLAIN THE TRAVEL.
