  • I've been buying the char siu buns in chinatown for ages (2 for $1 - can't beat that) so I decided to go one step further and made the char siu myself. Excellent dish and I seriously doubt that I'll have any pork left over to make buns. lol.

  • I've been looking for a video that shows how to make this and it took an Aussie from Down Under to do it. Thanks Aussie Griller

  • One of the best pork dishes on the planet!!!!

  • Tonight's great Aussie weather and this great recipe together are amazing :)

  • the guy made it wrong. you suppose to roast, not grill.

  • damn have to try this out, when it get warm enough to grill outdoors :S

  • If this tastes anything like the Ribs you've done in a similar marinade this'll be AWESOME!! Can't wait to try this, even though it's nearly freezing outside.

  • @slidewarrior It's very similar, I've been making this for years, I came up with the idea for the ribs from this recipe, essential the same, just different cuts of meat and cooking technique.

  • @AussieGriller

Dear Sir - Would appreciate if you could tell how much pork you used.

    thank you.

  • "Char sui"

  • @1fishers I used to spell it like that, but it turns out it is Siu, very common mistake.

  • I had been using a char duo spice pack. This looks great. I thought shadows grilled on propane flat tops.

  • That looks great! I whish my grill was not hidden under tone of snow :))))

  • Will the marinade be great with chicken or beef? I'm really keen on trying out this recipe but I can't consume pork.

  • @mikolover1000 with chicken, duck or turrkey this marinade will workvery well.

  • @mikolover1000 Will work great for chicken or beef

  • The water to make steam is a really good idea

  • @CheapCrap12311 Thanks

  • Can you substitute sake for chinese rice wine, I live in Denmark and do not know if they sell it here?

  • @todd8333 Yes, you can. However, it has a different flavour than chinese rice wine. But this change in flavour is preferred by some. So it depends on the cook mainly.

Pale Dry Sherry or Gin are probably the best subsitutes however, as they have much closer flavours to chinese rice wine.

  • @todd8333 Yes will work fine, as mentioned by LadyLatias it will just change the flavour a bit

  • This looks delicious! Definitely giving it a go

  • @SoopaMario1 Enjoy mate!

  • Right on the, Chinese New years! :)

  • It looks great but I don't eat pork. I loved the cleaver. A handy tool for opening coconuts too.
