  • can i use just a normal mini display port to hdmi cable to connect and play with my ps3 on my thunderbolt display? or did i need a normal cinema display? or is the best way a normal full hd tv?

    pleaze help =)

  • works on osx lion?

  • At the Apple Store, you can buy a Moshi Mini DP to HDMI Adapter with sound, full HD. I don't know if it works in the same way, as that dongle.

  • uhm why dont you just get a rocketfish mini-to hdmi? for 25 bucks? 1920x1200 video res.

  • Is this compatible with the 24" Cinema Display too?

  • compatible with 21.5 inch iMac 2011 ?

  • What about the 21.5 inch

  • Would this work with the new iMac 21.5" with thunderbolt?

  • I've searched every and I cant seem to find a clear answer. Im trying to find out if this will work for a mac book mini with the thunderbolt port? I've only seen that it will work with the mac monitors and iMac.

  • thanks so much for the review

  • I have a question do you get sound with this device

  • i have a 2008 imac so this is not going to transmit sound, anyway to work around that?

  • Hey nice video! Really explained a lot! Though I read some reviews on Amazon and about 5 people that have purchased this product said "in 1-2 months their Kanex died on them." Have you been experiencing any problems lately with your kanex device? thanks

  • hey mike I was wondering what is this the difference between the kanex to a product like the iWires Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter that is on sale from the apple store.

Would I be able to play my xbox on my macbook with a lil gismo like this?

shout out from the UK good work :D

  • is it possible to record with this or no?

  • Dude for 50$ more you coud buy an nice monitor and connect an xbox, an ps3, and an mac to it.

  • what about the old cinema display 24"

  • Why don't you just buy a $150 tv?

  • It seems people here don't get the point. The 27" iMac and the Cinema Display are the only two models here that have a two way Apple Mini Display port. On any other Mac, the port is just connecting directly to the GPU for output. On those two models, it is connected to the GPU and the display for output and input.

  • So it wont work with the 24" Apple LED Cinema Display? Great video Mike!

  • Omfg this is why i freaking love the 27 inch imac. Definition of Amazing

  • whats your gamertag???

  • a converter? doesn't apple make one like that for half the price?

  • @TechnoHelp02 nope

  • @TechnoHelp02 Apple do one for round £35 (not sure what that wuld be in dollars..) Go on apple website and look on there aha..

  • @TechnoHelp02 if apple would do this you could buy it for 300 bugs ;)

  • wow so i pay more for the overpriced led cinema display, now i have to pay for this

  • Stupid campers!

    Great review

  • @koenfunny No kidding!

  • @wwwinsanelygreatmac can u run the device of a MacBook pro 13 with the thunderbolt port.

  • @gpcucci yes

  • Have an issue with the box? Hahaha

  • Nice review, Mike, but I hope yours continues to work. I used mine to connect a PS3 to a 27" ACD this past weekend, but after 10 hours of use it ceased working. I'm assuming it's the Mini DisplayPort side of the XD box, since the blue LED indicator on that side flickered out and died.

If I'd checked the Kanex XD forums (at the Kanex site) I would have known this was a common issue, and likely gone with an Atlona solution. You'll have to let us know, Mike, how long your XD holds out.

  • @GreatLakesJim I've been using this for about two months, so it definitely has miles on it. Maybe you just got a dud.

  • @wwwinsanelygreatmac Good to know. I'm going through the return process with Amazon, and will give it another go (it certainly seemed like a great deal since Amazon had it for $102). If that one breaks, then it appears that Atlona has an equivalent to the Kanex XD called the AT-DP300 (since my use is mainly for gaming, an XD-type box seems like the way to go). Thanks for the fast feedback, Mike.

  • @wwwinsanelygreatmac yep I got one too and it lasted about 2 weeks. I used a 360

  • nice video man!

  • 149 dollars? it's just a converter :O. off course it's VERY useful but dang that's very expensive. a shame it isn't 1080p but 720p is pretty ok but i would expect more from it but I would buy a TV anyways since you then get full 1080p and it's just dedicated to everything. you get just every port on a regular TV so you get HDMI, USB (which some even have for media support as well), component and all of that good stuff! this is a nice product and a good idea but for just a converter it's pricey

  • @rtownz251251 You're hooking up an XBox to a 27-inch iMac... what's an extra $150 to make it awesomesauce? :)

  • @wwwinsanelygreatmac

well first off i didn't say that it sucked. it is pretty damn sweet actually but if you think about it. i got myself an mini display port to HDMI cable for my macbook pro. that one was 30 euro's. Ok this thing works the other way but still i think that's pretty damn ridiculous that you have to pay so much more for a box that does it the other way around! it's pretty damn sweet and the idea is awesome but i prefer my TV for these type of things and it's just quite expensive

  • @iPhoneiPadReviews nooooooo

  • @Jtechp why? :(

  • @iPhoneiPadReviews you're trying to get more subs and its not working
