  • I tjhink this song eans something different for each one in the audience. And that's the loveable thing of it...

  • it's one of the best things i ever heard

    sammy is unforgettable

  • I'm definitely getting old, I think this guy is SO good in this song, even if it's before my time.

  • RICHARD HARRIS SE ORGULHOU DESTA INTERPRETAÇÃO, OS DOIS ESTÃO JUNTOS EM UM LUGAR MUITO BOM, ERAM FANTÁSTICOS ! TALENTOS QUE SE UNEM !!!

    JIMMY WEB TAMBÉM GOSTOU !!!

SALVE OS HOMENS DE TALENTO !!!

    IVAN BOCALON

  • Richard Harris Original version is the best underrated on the late 60's it became famous on the 70's still can be heared on the 80's 90's 2000 and now 2011 today it was rated as one of the super best undisputed so you young people whom your parents was not yet born on that years when i was already on the band shut your mouth, all others singer who sung this song are most well established famous singers, but still Richard Harris is the best no doubt about that buy all the records and compare

  • Both versions are superb...Obviously the analogy of cake and baking is meant to refer to a relationship with a woman, a love that is unequaled , i.e. A cake whose recipe is unique (never be forgotten). The quote of 'there will be another song for me'..refers to lessons learned for future loves. For Sammy his ties/marriages with May Britt and Kim Novak (both white),,,were shutdown by the Industry Moguls from enduring..& for Richard..his Drinking, cheating, & wildness caused his '69 divorce.

  • Richard's version is hard to beat imo. Sammy does a terrific job as well.

  • how do you call an original a version? isn't richard harris the original so he is not the " version" as you would like to call it. it would have been better if you said "interpretation". of the song.

  • I like AL Yankovic's version the best

  • You guys who are bashing Richard Harris are out of your minds. That song went to number 2 on the charts, it sold-and continues to sell- millions. It's the Rhapsody in blue for my generation. And extra credit to anyone who can name the song that kept Macarthur from the number one spot.

  • @5saxman7 WOW this was waaaaay better than RIchard Harris'!!!! How could anyone sing about a cake???????

  • What a voice!

  • This version is a lot better than Richard Harris'

  • Sammy did such a wonderful job, but I really wish he had not added the little extras and minor revisions. This is 99% beautiful. The music is awesome. What a perfect voice for this poertry that Jimmy Web wrote!

  • Thgank you for sharing this great version of MacArthur Park, Sammy Davis was superlative performer and this is a nice cover. I must beg to differ in your opinion that Richard Harris' version is the worst song ever. (or even version, if that's what you meant)

  • @mythtree :) well its only a joke really about Richard Harris, I think it was voted on a British TV program to be the worst single ever lol thats just what I've heard.

  • MASTERPIECE

  • FANTASTIC !!!

  • This will always be my favorite version. I agree, no one has done it with more feeling and soul!

  • No one has done it with more feeling and soul.

  • I have performed this song for over 20 years. The lyrics have always moved me. Sammy's version is excellent. Thanks for posting:)

  • Simply the best version. Donna Summer made a very good version but.... Sammy was the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Once again I agree with you totally ancyt. Do you now if this version is available on CD?

  • ancyt Thank you so much for posting this version. None of the other versions can compare with this one, it is really a masterpiece of voice and music. I found a version of Mr. Davis singing this on i-tunes, but the accompaniment doesn't have the harp, and is slightly different., can you please tell me where I can find this version on cd? thanks again for posting this

  • Ah, many thanks. Have been hoping this would get posted! Who could have ever done this song better? No one I have heard.

  • The best version! Match with Sammy style!

  • I used to have this on 8track...thanks for posting. Great rendition, love the band.
