I'm having a problem with my download of Total realism. The download asked me to start fresh with a version of Rome Total War 1.0. then to install 1.2 patch then download the 6.0 and 6.2 patches of total realism that came with it
I start the game and right at the screen where it shows who made it and all the trademarks etc. it stops and says rtw stopped working???? Anybody know where i can get a legit download of total realism or a solution to my problem??
It isn't. I have Vista myself and it works fine. Just install the 2 patches and install the game itself. Then get a crack (Google can get you ver far) and put it in your Rome Total War map (see Program Files). Then Extract it and make a shortcut of the file with the Rome Total War sign to your desktop and enjoy!

Yes there is. There are some extra factions as well and the units look much better. It's also more accurate when you look at the history of the world. For example the Macedonians will get Alexander the Great as a General at a certain moment. Same goes for Caesar (for Rome) and Hannibal (for Carthage)
A mod is fine, most of the good ones are rather stable. Just be sure to make a backup of RTW. Oh, and by the way, try Europa Barbarorum (EB). It is an RTW mod that is waaaay better than RTR. I've tried both and RTR feels like a RTW mod whereas EB is like a totally new TW game.
It lacks rectangular shields and testudo formation because the game is historically accurate. The game ends in 14 A.D. and what you mentioned came later in history, in about 40A.D. if I'm not mistaken.
Actually, I think Hannibal got scared. He won 4 battles at Tessino, Trevia, Trasimeno and Cannas. But with most of his army dead, he didnt want to try Rome. He was later betrayed by a King, can't remember the name right now....
No, he didn't. The rule of siege warfare at the time was to have an assualt force three times bigger than the defenders. Hannibal didn't have enough troops to take Rome and his senate wouldn't give him anymore.
May be, the carthaginian senate wasn't sending enough supplies so that Anibal could wage proper war against Rome, and the loss of Cartago Nova at the hands of Escipion delayed at first Anibals plans, and when it became clear that Hispania was lost, and Escipion landed on Africa, Anibal was pulled out of Italy to ptrotect Carthago.
You may be right, but I suppose that we'll never know.
This RTR mod is really cool. It was a little bit boring to always play the same kind of campaing in RTR. But now with this Mod, i think i like Rome total War more than Medieval II.
i love RTRPE 1.9 with the latin voicepack! the only problem is that the legionaries dont have rectangular shields and cant form testudo.... and from all the mods ive seen that put legionaries with rectangular shields, there was always a small bug... (im very perfectionnist btw)
Lol the battle was from the Syrian War, a cold war btw Rome and the Seleucids. This was at the height of tensions between them. So beautiful. I would have loved to be in that charge, I dont care if I broke my neck! Lol I WANT THIS MOD!

Before you download the actual mod you need to download the patch to make your game the correct version that will be compatible with the mod. e.g. When you download the rtr platinum mod you need to have rtw version 1.5. If you don't know the version of your game go on it, select options and look to the top right of the screen. If it says 1.5 you can download the platinum mod straight away but if not you will need to download a patch first to make your game version 1.5 and therefore compatible.

alive4metal the Hastati and Principe didnt use the Testudo and didnt have the Legionary square shield. I believe the Square shield was used by the imperial legionary not the republican legionary.

It's not BS. Its just not something a lot of people will like.
It's taken RTW which was a fun but highly unrealistic game, and moved it more towards being a historical military simulation. If you're the kind of person who likes furious fast paced clickfest action, then RTR is probably not for you. If you like a more subtle game with room for tactical thought, then you will probably like the RTR mod.
The Marian Reforms that transformed the Roman military into a professional army began around 107 BC. I've been playing RTR and have been trying to find out if they occur in this mod and from what I have gathered so far is that it's a totally random event. This is a pretty sweet mod, RTW had way too many overpowered fictional units.

You have no Idea what you're talking about. The mod totally changes all of the units in the game while doubling (at least) the old unit count. Rome is compacted to one faction while more are added. You're prolly just pissed off cause you can't beat it.

You can double unit count on vanilla rome by editing the preference text.

i download RTR 6 gold and it only has like around 50 units in the game it sucks ass!

You have no Idea what you're talking about. The mod totally changes all of the units in the game while doubling (at least) the old unit count. Rome is compacted to one faction while more are added. You're prolly just pissed off cause you can't beat it.
