I'll just say this. Since I've left the "church" (I mean the numerous visible organizations that call themselves churches), I've learned more about God and His truth than ever before. We need to teach the bible. Teach what sin is. Preach the Gospel. Teach who God is, & what He expects of us. Look at all areas of our lives thru what the Bible says (not popular teachers). Now I fellowship in a man's home. The Spirit leads. It's wonderful. I'm knowing others, & am being known, even as He knows me.

gospel? is all what is written in the new testament, it is the new covenant, the commandments, and the things written in it. that is the gospel, not that simple gospel. there is mystery in it which is not known to the world the doctrines of God is written in the gospel.

Watch out Mr.washer. Even though VCY America for the most part is sound Biblically I did hear on that network the "invite Jesus in your heart" when it comes to responding to the gospel message.
Paul Washer in context is a man doing his best to deal with cultural Christianity in the Southern Baptist denomination. He has a one dimensional mission to awaken people of the seriousness of sin and to bring a sense of urgency for people to discover their own salvation. Insofar as this context extends to American Christianity, that is where Washer is relevant, but a "shock jock" ministry has its limitations, and Washer's are gapping. A message of fear does not water or empower.
@denoinwa I think it's more than southern Baptists; I attend a non-denominational church on the west coast, and every point Washer made hit right at home. As for "shock jock" ministry, those who hear Paul Washer preaching at a congregation he's pastored for some time know that he's calm and focused on grace. As he says himself, he tends to "bring out the fire" when he's speaking to a group that hasn't heard him before and he has reason to believe has bought into "American Christianity."
@Lion3Lamb I can sure agree that there is a problem with complacency in the American church. I just dont agree with Washer about the solution. I dont believe it is primarily about false conversions and a lack of awareness of sin. It certainly is partially that, but I believe it has a lot more to do with law-based Christianity and a lack of awareness of the Spirit, and the lack of encouragement in that realm.

By going further and letting you know that myself and many friends have been saved from the false Christianity you say is “not the problem” I disprove that point also. I also doubt that you watched the video: Washer spends more than half the sermon talking about the Gospel, grace, and God’s magnificence.

I do not in any way whatsoever think the solution to "carnal Christianity" is an anal exam looking for conversion authenticity. He says to trust in "the work of God in you." The Bible does not teach this. This is a recipe for disaster among new believers whose faith is already weak and are in dire need of assurance and the promise. When Christ is preached, we need an absolute faith that the Holy Spirit is working.

@pleaseeeify Not everyone who cries out to God will become saved it is very important to understand, it is all the will and work of Christ only, we can do nothing to guarantee our salvation. I do not know if you are saved it is a growing process but one of the evidences that you have become saved is you have a intense desire to learn the word of God and because He Gives you a brand new soul when you sin it makes you very sad and unhappy and you feel great sorrow and remorse. All men have sinned and all men have fallen short of the glory of god. If you claim to be without sin, you make god out to be a liar and the truth is not in you. You also deceive yourself, and you are making the claim that christ died for nothing. You must repent, but you will fail in your flesh. This is where grace comes in and the blood. Our sins are forgiven by the blood of the son. You will fail and you will sin period.
But, if you sin, you have a jesus christ the mediator on your side. Not for a license to sin, but if you should sin. Christ speaks to the father on our behalf. Repent and turn from sin -- I would rather repent and turn to God -- repentance is turning to God and going to Him for forgiveness, healing, strength, every area of our life. @GregoryD57 To be saved, one must turn in faith to Christ alone, believing on Him for the forgiveness of sins. Acts 20:21 speaks of "repentance TOWARD GOD." The Word of God NEVER teaches repentance FROM sin to be saved; BUT, rather, repentance TOWARD GOD. Repentance is a change of mind concerning sin and the Savior. Childlike faith is all thats needed. If a person knows they are a guilty sinner and turns in faith to Jesus Christ to forgive their sins and save them--that person has repented.

When Peter preached on the Pentecostal day what did he say to the people who asked him " What should they do" - Acts 2. It seems people dont like Mr. Washer's sermons for the simple fact that he teaches of sin. We are all sinners and desrve nothing. It does not matter if you go to church once or five times a week. I used to be a Benny Hinn follower and a faith healing, demon casting, prosperity preacher until the Lord convicted me of the depth of my sin and showed me that unless we be born again we will not enter the kingdom of God because without holiness noone shall see the Lord. I still believe in the supernatural and the gifts but most or all of these people like benny hinn are false prophets, ask the Lord for discernment!
I'll just say this. Since I've left the "church" (I mean the numerous visible organizations that call themselves churches), I've learned more about God and His truth than ever before. We need to teach the bible. Teach what sin is. Preach the Gospel. Teach who God is, & what He expects of us. Look at all areas of our lives thru what the Bible says (not popular teachers). Paul Washer in context is a man doing his best to deal with cultural Christianity in the Southern Baptist denomination. He has a one dimensional mission to awaken people of the seriousness of sin and to bring a sense of urgency for people to discover their own salvation. Insofar as this context extends to American Christianity, that is where Washer is relevant, but a "shock jock" ministry has its limitations, and Washer's are gapping. A message of fear does not water or empower.

@denoinwa I think it's more than southern Baptists; I attend a non-denominational church on the west coast, and every point Washer made hit right at home. As for "shock jock" ministry, those who hear Paul Washer preaching at a congregation he's pastored for some time know that he's calm and focused on grace. As he says himself, he tends to "bring out the fire" when he's speaking to a group that hasn't heard him before and he has reason to believe has bought into "American Christianity."

I dont believe it is primarily about false conversions and a lack of awareness of sin. It certainly is partially that, but I believe it has a lot more to do with law-based Christianity and a lack of awareness of the Spirit, and the lack of encouragement in that realm.

I do not in any way whatsoever think the solution to "carnal Christianity" is an anal exam looking for conversion authenticity. He says to trust in "the work of God in you." The Bible does not teach this. This is a recipe for disaster among new believers whose faith is already weak and are in dire need of assurance and the promise. When Christ is preached, we need an absolute faith that the Holy Spirit is working.

I think we're on different pages here - you're interpreting him as describing those leaving the church (literally) that they belong to, while I'm interpreting it as people leaving Christianity altogether. I dont find fault with his preaching. How is his preaching wrong? please tell me im genuinely interested in what you will say. What is the TRUE GOSPEL then? Jesus said some challenging things. Has not the church become soft in its message in places and very complacent too?

Amazing God does not say I love only the ones who will be saved but says For God so loved the world. false teachings. Secondly God does save from sin which would lead to His judgment. It does not say be saved and I will love you then.

I believe that Bible stories were intended to depict the spiritual evolution of mankind through myth and allegory. To be 'saved' is to reveal the Christ spirit within the flesh, a chosen few may survive spiritual death(hell) and resurrection(heaven). The adaptation of the character 'Jesus' as being literal or historical has cleverly hidden this truth. Living in fear or praising an external idol such as 'Jesus' isn't going to save anybody. The works of the church does not save the elect, only the work of Christ does, and faith comes by hearing of the word of God, when God reveals and takes off the veil from our eyes and mind so we can understand. maybe those people left the church because they are not being feed the word of God or because they where never part of the elect or because the church age has ended and the truth can no longer be preached there and Satan is ruling in the churches.

The work of Christ is faith, faith is Christ, it is not our work or belief that gives us salvation, it is only Christ that gives us that belief through his work of faith, Salvation is a work of faith but our belief is not a cause for salvation unless Christ gives you that belief through his work, Only the ones that where written in the book of life before the foundation of the world was created will share in the new life and the new earth when judgment day comes and the world is consumed by fire

Im sure you know a lot about salvation and doctrines but can you tell me about the Kingdom of God, His ruling as a King, His government, the purpose of His Kingdom here on earth and your part in that Kingdom. Salvation is just a means to an end, there is more. @pleaseeeify Not everyone who cries out to God will become saved it is very important to understand, it is all the will and work of Christ only, we can do nothing to guarantee our salvation. I do not know if you are saved it is a growing process but one of the evidences that you have become saved is you have a intense desire to learn the word of God and because He Gives you a brand new soul when you sin it makes you very sad and unhappy and you feel great sorrow and remorse. All men have sinned and all men have fallen short of the glory of god. If you claim to be without sin, you make god out to be a liar and the truth is not in you. You also deceive yourself, and you are making the claim that christ died for nothing. You must repent, but you will fail in your flesh. This is where grace comes in and the blood. Our sins are forgiven by the blood of the son. You will fail and you will sin period.

Hebrews 9:22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without SHEDDING OF BLOOD IS NO REMISSION. BELIEVING is the ONLY way you receive Jesus. In Mk 1:15 Jesus was talking to the Jews ONLY in Galilee saying the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and BELIEVE the gospel. This is before God started the Church in Acts and Grace allows us to receive the FREE Gift of salvation by Believing

John 3:16, Acts 16:30-31, John 11:25, John 6:40, Romans 10:9, John 3:18 and many more (NONE of these mention Repentance) JESUS ONLY SAVES. 1 John 5:10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.

I am saved, Born and washed in the blood of Christ my Savior, first by believing He is the Son of God then by repenting of my sins and turning away from a sinful life, which I do not live any longer. So you have never repented of your sins? Your prayers are useless, for God does not hear prayer of the sinful. Just like when JESUS took our sins on the cross, The Father turned His face from Him. Act 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sin or forgiveness. Heb.9:22 Did Christ die for nothing? I think not. He died for payment of your sin if you repent & accept it.

@GregoryD57 To be saved, one must turn in faith to Christ alone, believing on Him for the forgiveness of sins. Acts 20:21 speaks of "repentance TOWARD GOD." The Word of God NEVER teaches repentance FROM sin to be saved; BUT, rather, repentance TOWARD GOD. Repentance is a change of mind concerning sin and the Savior. Childlike faith is all thats needed. If a person knows they are a guilty sinner and turns in faith to Jesus Christ to forgive their sins and save them--that person has repented.

My dear friend. Peter denied 3 times how was he then forgiven before or after crucifixion? When Peter preached on the Pentecostal day what did he say to the people who asked him " What should they do" - Acts 2. Please read the Bible first and believe the Gospel before get into any conclusion. Any minute without repentence and God in you is just the flesh existence as you and I are spiritually dead. You can not be Born Again without repentance and if you think so you are very deceived and twisting scripture to feel justified in your sinfulness still. It mentions nothing about then you must repent to be saved in these verses. It does not say you can not be Born Again without repentance. It seems people dont like Mr. Washer's sermons for the simple fact that he teaches of sin. We are all sinners and desrve nothing. It does not matter if you go to church once or five times a week. What makes you right with God is when you turn from your sin and wickedness and follow Christ at all cost. May Jesus bless us all.

@suntop321 He is not preaching works, he is preaching that thru faith comes good works. Don't go around yelling at people until you truly understand the gospel. The truth is that with faith comes good works, patience, temperance, and loving kindness towards others. Something you clearly do not have. You need to ask yourself, " am I truly saved?" Then repent for your actions and let the Holy Spirit dwell in you. Not the angry world. The truth is oftentimes hard to hear.

I used to be a Benny Hinn follower and a faith healing, demon casting, prosperity preacher until the Lord convicted me of the depth of my sin and showed me that unless we be born again we will not enter the kingdom of God because without holiness noone shall see the Lord. I still believe in the supernatural and the gifts but most or all of these people like benny hinn are false prophets, ask the Lord for discernment!
