I was feeling crushed by the circumstances of my life, & the words captured my attention. Nor is it reasonable to respond to venom with venom. Asking them perhaps how their words do or do not reflect God's love would be more appropriate, for example, because it would require them to stop and think, rather than immediately throwing up defenses.
