  • i think mine's scratched

  • love this game.. i use to have one and two but lost the games

  • i need a ps3 remake :P

  • I loved this game. Still do. I don't play it anymore, because my PS1 is long gone. It was inovative because it was one of the first games that you can kill with one hit wich made it realistic.

  • post one playing as kannuki with the hammer.

  • the bigest player with the sledgehammer is SUCH a skank.try it you beat everyone easy.

kannuki with the hammer, thats it

  • man i wish i still had this game!

  • no wonder I never got to the end.. being the psychotic kid that I was I would always kill them as soon as possible then repeatedly stab them while they were on the floor lol

  • Deadliest Warrio suck comperead to this

  • Un de mes jeux préférés sur PS1. Halala ! Douce nostalgie ! ^^

  • I just put this on my PSP.. I'm enjoying it but there's no fuckin music! :(

  • this version is different to mine

  • The best fighting game ever made.

  • @Bregowald hardly

  • @thomaskaaz1 What's a matter, meathead? Not enough "action" for your weak mind? Not enough explosions? Too "boring" for your low IQ?

  • @Bregowald You assume a lot considering you know nothing about me. I just disagreed with you and you insult me? Sounds like you're a little insecure there, buddy.

  • A game way ahead of its time. In real life, there is no round two- a concept that needs to come back to potentially revive the fighting genre,

  • ok iv never seen this game before and for a ps1 game im impressed with some of the features like the way you can run around and explore and cut the trees down and how you can injure them and the no health bar final blow system is pretty cool actualy because i suppose its more realistic because someone wouldnt have set health

  • literally the best game ever made

  • The combat system was so different at the time, and a nice change from everything else out there. Loved this game.

  • The whole Japanese "honor" ideology is total bullshit.

  • @ScreamingRebel94

Agreed, anything that glorifies death is bullshit.

  • @superhamzah85 What I mean is how the fighting has to be "fair."

If you strike them while they're talking it's not "honorable."

If you strike them from behind it's not "honorable."

You're on a revenge mission, not a tournament.

  • @ScreamingRebel94

But considering the medival period, death was pretty common, if not by sword, by smallpox, or some crappy disease. Might as well go down samurai style, if you have to.

  • @superhamzah85 I don't know about small pox, but I can agree with dying for a good cause. What I meant was they act like there's some kind of rules when fighting. Will it really matter to the winner how he won?

  • @ScreamingRebel94 yes.

if you are fighting a cheating bastard, i dunt think you will be happy when they win.

  • @gundamnduke0 There are no rules. Therefore you cannot cheat.

  • @ScreamingRebel94 well, apparently, in a game of people slashing each other with a samurai sword, there are rules.

look, if you are being attacked and you are trying to fend for your life, i can see that there are no rules.

but with the samurais, or any type of martial arts combat/tournament/whatever something, they are like playing a game of football or basketball, only that they die when they lose.

  • @gundamnduke0 But it wasn't a game or tournament. It was life or death. The character in this game is out for revenge. You think this whole honor system matters?

  • @ScreamingRebel94 well, to the samurais, it is a game. maybe u think otherwise is becuz you are not a samurai.

it always amuses me when they think they know better when they are not even those people themselves.

look man if it doesn't matter to you, it doesn't mean it doesn't matter to other people either.

this proves "I think, therefore I am". really you only think that way becuz it fits your personality.

you have no regard for other people but yourself.

  • @gundamnduke0 I think that way because it's logical. And logic and reason don't only apply to some cultures and not others. It's everywhere. And clearly these samurais were foolish enough to let pride get in their way.

Think about it: "I'm off to kill this person, but wait... His back is turned. I'll just let him know I'm here first." Do you have any comprehension of how stupid that sounds?

  • @ScreamingRebel94 that is certainly not logic, rather it is your personal preference.

you know, some people like challenge, and they feel bad when they kill someone "cheaply"

to you, it is about killing the other person, but to those samurais, it is something more complicated.

look man, if it is about being logical, no samurai will exist today because fighter will be learning how to shoot ak-47s.

you see the problem of your argument being "logical"?

  • @gundamnduke0 It is logic. It makes more sense to just kill them than to worry about how. Now that I think about it, they're very comparable to those CoD kiddies, that quickscope, in the sense "you didn't kill them this way so it doesn't count." And I have no idea where you're getting they would exist modern day.

  • @ScreamingRebel94 isn't it easier to kill with a gun than a sword?

but no, people still practice this ancient art of killing.

what are you trying to prove here?

from your perspective, moral doesn't exist doesn't it?

actually i don't think moral exists either. but people tend to bend things into being moral or immoral based on their thinking.

I cannot stress this enough that the samurai have the honor system because they like it, they like challenges don't want to be mocked.

  • @ScreamingRebel94 also, your goal is just different.

You look at sword fighting as simple life and death, win and lose.

Well, not everyone thinks that way.

    I am repeating myself now--

To those that are really into these type of shit, they see more than victory, they see challenge, they see a respect for the type they like to do.

Look man, I don't if you got a serious hobby, but if you do, you will understand the feeling of achieving something legit.

  • @ScreamingRebel94 What you are thinking is like taking a test only for the best score.

Isn't it true that the best score is by cheating? having the answer right in front of you for you to answer the question?

Let just say there is no penalty for cheating, and your only goal in your mind is to achieve the highest score.

    Isn't is logical to cheat?

But then you must ask yourself, what is the point of taking such a test?

  • @gundamnduke0 Killing isn't taking a test. It's taking someone's life. There's no way to cheat at that. Besides; that situation is a compares morality to logic, while in a samurai's situation it's comparing pride to logic.

Also, if you're comparing killing to a hobby, then you should seek help.

  • @ScreamingRebel94 what is life?

    what is it to you?

what is it to those samurais?

you only know what you are thinking, not others.

  • @ScreamingRebel94 Same with the samurai dudes who fight with "honor"

what is the point of telling yourself that you defeated a tough opponent when your victory stem from the opponent being vulnerable?

They fight to prove that they got skills, that their training was worth it.

What is the point of winning without using much of that skill?

Again, think about a hobby you might have.

  • @gundamnduke0 They teach you in all fighting styles to exploit an opening when fighting an opponent and strike when they're vulnerable. This doesn't make you weak, it makes you the winner.

"The best techniques are passed on by the survivors" -Gaiden Shinji

  • @ScreamingRebel94 hey, guess what, they made stabbing someone's back as a bad thing, deal with it.

talking to you is not being logical obviously.

  • @gundamnduke0 Does that change the fact that they were so prideful they would rather die than "cheat"? No. No it doesn't. Deal with it.

  • Loved this game!

  • well ARPG's are closest thing to this.

  • really underrated game!

  • I love the Japanese guy who says "woo!" XD

  • oh the nostalgia, it burns

  • An awesome game. I still play it to this day.

  • I LOVED this game, so cool that it was like a one hit kill style game, there was so much strategy and timing with it.

  • One of the cooler "fighting game" ideas I think.... I'm surprised they haven't brought this back already.

  • @ScornedShadows

it is very hard to do a realistic damage model.

I think only dwarf fortress did it too

  • @Skinnyoompalumpa I'd like to see a realistic damage model applied to an RPG

  • @Skinnyoompalumpa In this day and age?Not really that difficult. Yes it would be a challenge, and require a focused effort in development, but any decent game does. The problem is, that developers don't want to take a risk on an idea like this.... Its a shame really.. Much easier to make a crappy FPS than an innovative fighter.

  • thumbs up if lil b brought you here

  • 05:24 gambit

  • i think bushido blade 2 is better...

  • so red shadow can look like BB2 nightstalker

  • I FINALLY GOT SLASH MODE :D THAT WAS A PAIN IN THE BUTT!

  • @SonitrolCP Wait that's in Bushido Blade 2 lol

  • Kannuki was always my favorite!

  • Why is Gambit in a Squarsoft game

  • man im happy to see that in 2009 this had like 10,000 views and BOOSTED up to 100,000 views. Keep up the good work wc10k! :D

  • I played soooo much bushido blade when I was younger! I love it!!!! :D

  • @Kioskryttaren Well fuck you, too.

  • Husky sent me to this game...

  • its a better alternative to rock paper scissors

  • imagine this game's fighting system on the PS3! one strike is all it takes to win!

  • Best fightning game ever. I miss this game :(

  • If these guys are assassins, why didn't your character just go AWOL when on a mission or something if they were trying to get out?

  • i would always cut the bamboo trees its real fuggin fun

  • I remember getting this game on my PS1 demo disc.

It had only the katana and bamboo grove stage unlocked, and only an endless training match where you go one on one against either friend or comp.

I fell in love with this game. The idea of having a match last either 5 seconds with a flurried offense or 5 minutes of juking, position, and feinting..any time you land a fatal blow it was so satisfying.

  • this is the 1st game i had when i bought the ps1 for the 1st time

  • wow thanks for the memories!...i loved this game and thought i was a ninja lol

  • going from playing samurai shodown and street fighter to this was a major adjustment. I really sucked at this.

  • has anyone played deadliest warrior, its alot like this

  • @1787 lol crazy bumpin into you again.....I thought the same thing about deadliest warrior

  • @PmMidnight its absolutely nothing like this in any way what so ever, deadliest warrior is just another fighting game, this game actually takes skill and practice

  • Comment removed

  • If i would make a facebook page so people could vote for this game to return do you think it will succescfull? Like so people can see this!

  • @romanceboyaang at least an arcade download with online play

  • Wow brough back so many childhood memories!I used to play this game!

  • I can't believe they never did any follow-ups to the first one. It was so damn innovative. I remember playing the second one and going straight back to the first..

  • Dude, when I got this game, my dad bought it for me. I was soooo stoked to play it. My dad told me after he got back from Toys'r'us , "I forgot the name. Bushugu Knife or something" "Dang so you couldnt find the game???" *Dad displays game...* Loved that day... went through every match with a damn eyepatch though.

  • @TheTylerwalkermusic how many people that read this closed one eye?

  • from what i remember you could only progress to the very end bosses by taking zero damage from each of the preceeding fights and escaping from one guy by slashing him in the legs and jumping down a sewer lol

  • This was one of the best titles on PSX. Now I'm thinking of buying it once again :D

  • "Say, like, uh, if you play this and uh... um... well like... so ... I dunno uh... this probably isn't making much sense..."

This is hard to watch because this guy's an idiot.

  • this was the game me and my dad played everyday as a kid, we played the 2nd one more, but we played the hell outta the first one too

  • bushido blade is lame i played it and it was lame

it has no health bars easy way to kill someone is run around and press the square button easy kill.

  • System Link is the best way to play this.

  • I played Bushido Blade 2 and I think 1 is better looking...

  • why is this game not in the PS store yet?

  • Is there a reason why all my stages are set at night? All of yours are set in the daytime (like the sunset beach scene, mine is completely dark). I play it on my Ps2

  • @DJDesikari I think the footage in this vid is recorded from a PS1 emulator. The random slow-downs and graphical glitches give it away.

  • I remember the 99(or 100)-Ninja Battle in some Kind of Dojo...Awesome Game!

And there were a Charakter called "Kaze" if i remember right, using a lame Gun-.-

    Loved this Game!

  • played both of em, and loved em

  • You guys saying you never "knew" SquareSoft made this game... uhh.. they didn't. They published it. From memory, Light Weight developed it. They went on to make the Kengo series.

  • I loved this game! Too bad I've only ever play the demo for it. =(

  • this game was fun as hell, they need to make a HD remake

  • Never played this game, but love to play those SQUARE SOFT gems...i must try it.

  • Anyone saying this game sucked is retarded. There was nothing more tense then knowing that one wrong move could end in an instant fatal attack by your enemy. This game involved more then just smashing buttons as fast as you could, it was about precision and timing.

  • This game sucked back then and it sucks now. Just slice the legs thats all you had to do if i remember.

  • .. PSX game, you jackasses. The graphics weren't too shabby for those days. lol, man I can't believe you people sometimes.

  • @AltLocks Why do people keep saying PSX? The PSX was an entertainment system that had a release limited to Japan only. It's called a PS1.

    PS1, DAMMIT!

  • @QwoPhasaArius I must imagine you were either not alive or too young to remember how back in the heyday of the console, PSX was the proper way to spell it. Just look at any EGM or Gamepro or whatever in the era. PSX for lyfe.

  • @mercatfat Well, that's news to me, thanks! Maybe its a US thing, 'cause around here I never heard the term PSX muttered once - at least not from anyone I've ever met. I dont recall it being in any publications either, but I didnt subscribe or anything so dont hold me to that. I was young at the time too, sure.

  • @QwoPhasaArius From what I remember they used to just spell it PS, but when the new model, smaller, curved, and without ther reset button, they started writing PSX when refering to the old model and PSone when refering to the new one. The spelling PSX had been already coined a long time ago before that system you talk about came out

  • @QwoPhasaArius PS: And it's not just a US thing, I live in Argentina

  • back when it was called squaresoft...

  • this game kicked so much ass, I wish I still had it :(

  • "another cool thing about this game is when you pause the game a Japanese guy says: Woo."............. LMFAO!!!!!!!

  • The game graphics is plain crap. But the gameplay is intense.Maybe they should make a better game for the other PS systems

  • this game looks crappy

  • kage=shadows

  • best combat game ever imho

  • i played this game when i was 6 years old, and my parents took it away, now i am gonna find a copy and play it once more!

  • Is that Gambit at 4:40?

  • best game ever

  • never realised squaresoft made tihs game, i loved this game :D

  • Running away is not very honorable >.>

  • cool game

  • this game remind me of my childhood

  • Back in the day I didn't like this game because once I got to a certain point in the story mode it would just stop, and I could never understand why because I was too young, but now it makes sense: I would just run at people and slash them up as quickly as possible, and the game was penalizing me for not going "the way of the warrior"

  • Busido blade was the FIRST Game I bought with a PS1. I just remberbed this in college and loved it

  • This game was brilliant. I loved it but it was a pity that I never owned, I only ever leant if off a friend that didn't give me much time to play.

  • congratulation for more 108 thousand views.

  • i have bushido blade 2 and it is very cool!! it is much fun than that!

  • Your a f%#$ idiot!

  • My first PS1 Game

  • @joesamc2 same here....my first ps1 game...still love it

  • the guy narrating this video is a full chud

  • @bullfrogb he sure is long winded. taking forever to explain simple things. And I like how he thinks that simple concepts like "don't hit from behind" and "let them talk before killing" is so complicated. he spends like 2 minutes talking about this. And how it "didn't make sense at first". uh...yea. When I played this years ago, I figured out those concepts in like 5 seconds. not that hard. and you don't need to spend so much time talking about it.

  • memories

  • question i remember after killing the guy in the sewer i was allways losing why? do u know why?

  • @POUTANA2 There is an honor system in the game. You would have to look up how that works.

  • @evolution199331 omg thanks i tried to pass it 24 h :P

  • i remember this game fondly.

  • is it possible to change the character language to English like in Tench?

  • I remember this game, I got a playstation for christmas when I was younger; that came with the a demo disc with this game on it. I was happy.

  • OMG I haven't seen this shit in FOREVER....sick fuckin game man...

  • Is this the game where you can thorugh bamboo if your opponent is on it?

  • werent there ninja stars or kunai in this game, i used to have a blast playing my friend in this, nothing will bring back the modded playstation 1 days

  • i loved this game man

  • Honor to all gamers who started playing ps1 games before pc ones became popular... We are all veterans....

  • @ShomiTheGreat dude pc was popular back in the day too. Unreal?, Castle Wolfenstein?, Doom?

  • @ScRaPaZz ahhhhhh but remember calling your friends for a game or two on ps1.... pc didn't have so many social (actually multiplayer) capabilities...

  • lot

  • Wat about that round when teh guy has a gun thats not honourable.

  • "we'll get to that later"

  • only thing that sux is that it lacks music :(

  • You need someone to talk about the game while you play it: you seem very distracted and scatter-brain. I really like this game, though; glad to see it again.

  • c'mon square enix, make a new bushido blade series

  • The fact that you can die in one hit in these games is the BEST! BB2 my buddy and I used to take turns in survival mode and see who could do better. Also had some epic VS battles for HOURS.:)

  • FUCK...DEADLIEST...WARRIOR

  • This game made me the gamer I am today. Playing against my siblings was the best shit ever 'cuz I always won.

  • i dont remember having to be that honorable in story mode but i havent played this in probably over ten years, lol.
