I am a 2nd yr Engg. student in India in Electronics and Commn. My problem is that becoz of some reason I don't want to complete my remaing 2 yrs in India and want to finish them in Germany (was planning to do do my master's there anyway). So, could you tell me the procedure for getting admitted now in some reputed German University without having to start all over again i.e. from 1st yr itself. I am going to learn German here for the same.
WTF ?! If you go to the bakery you mostly can try to speak english. I think if you keep the sentences simple most germans will understand because everyone here learns english but not spanish!
Hi! Thank you for your video it was very helpful, I'm an international student from the Philippines planning to study there in Germany I'm reallllllyy really scared because I only know like the basic German and I fear I won't be able to cope up well with the others T.T it's really a major concern for me T.T
I've been learning german and I find it kind of easy... kind of! My mother's language is spanish... I'm learning by a software, I do right the pronunciation and the listening. I'm using this channel to teach my ear and damn! they speak to fast! I understand just the 10% of what they say...
Well... I hope when I get there, I can find it easier to understand.

Danke für dein Video. Ich will in Heidelberg (Deutschland) studieren. Ich habe nur vier Monate lang Deutsch gelernt. Ich kann es noch nicht so gut, aber ich lerne/übe viel. nochmals vielen Dank und mach's gut
Would German speaking people mind it if I "half spoke English" and "half spoke German" to them? Or should I try to speak in either all English or all German to them? How much does this matter?
@Tchaikovsky09 You would probably get along with a mixtur of the two languages in daily life and I don't think that many people would mind, but still I would advise you to possibly try to say everything in German - in the run long, it's the easier way to the mastering of a language. Also, you would risk that many people answer in English which wouldn't really be helpful to you.
@ichbineingummibear For me it is wrong to use such language. Although many times I've made the mistake. We have to remember that the German people ARE looking at us. And on some small level it will reflect our countries society. especially amongst older Germans. We have to remain respectful at all costs. Today I make thr promise to try harder. Are you with me? :)
@Kooshkff "We have to remain respectful at all costs." Wow, apoint of view that reminds me to the "white man burden". Are you afraid that we might revolt if we lose our respect for naive English speakers?
I know this may sound like a ridiculously obvious and stupid question, but is it possible to study German Language (as a college major) in Germany? Do they have programs for that or does it have to be something in science or business?
well, she never said she learned to speak like that in half a year :-). No one can tell you how long it takes until you can talk in German fluently because that depends on so many different things. Just get started and see how it goes.
I've been speaking it for 2 years. I'm stuck at B1 though. I'm pretty sure that knowing English is what is holding me back. As soon as I make a mistake people want to speak English. :P
@Kooshkff then tell them 'wenn du weiter Englisch redest dann kannst du mich am Arsch lecken'... or just refuse to answer them when they speak English. I do exactly that and I have very little problems with people wanting to speak english with me after. and surprisingly they take it pretty well, i think they're impressed that i still choose to speak german even though i could communicate in english easier. normally they grin and then will start speaking German. ;)
@Kooshkff to each his own. :) i guess it depends on your settings and peers. normally i've speaking with people from 18-23 so they find it funny when i curse in german with an american accent. :P but i understand your point. there's a time and a place for it.
@Kooshkff i've lived in Germany for 8 months now and my German was better than hers at 6 months... and i had never learned German in the U.S. All the German i learned i've learned here.
It sometimes happens that dialects can get in the way. Many people do not speak hochdeustch where I live. It's very common to here hear schwaebisch expressions and pronounciation. Ich becomes ish just about every time. :)
@Kooshkff yes, i live in oberbayern. :D i understand the dialect here. actually i live about 40 mins away from the part of bayern where they start speaking Schwaebisch but i've never noticed it, probably because i wasnt really speaking there (mostly shopping :P) but i also had a boyfriend who was from Frankfurt and his grandparents spoke hardcore Hessisch. o.O weirrrd stuff. :P I think dialects are beautiful, my boyfriend is bavarian and i beg him to speak it more often.
@Kooshkff If you really want to learn a language you can manage to reach a level like this. Of course you need to try to only speak the language even if you make plenty mistakes in the beginning
In 6 months it's very doubtful. German is very complex. It would require a very good school AND the dedication you just mentioned AND on top of that a very intelligent person.
no, you're not screwed. Actually the opposite is true because if you decide to come to Germany for your studies it will be much easier for you to settle in and understand typical customs much better due to your language skills. It's all good! :-)
ok, shes kinda cute and the girl at the bakery is kinda nice. what if your an ugly girl or guy speaking non german language in a crowded german grocery? will they still accept that or prolly speak english ?
@supertrex2 Hard to tell. It might depend on the kindness and politeness of the people in the grocery. Actually, some Germans are very nice and some are not. Yet, most of them won't bite, so it's worth to give it a try.
