@63bugga well, to answer your question you have to get that vehicle registered under your name. i mean you just can't just take it without any form of registration that would count as stealing! in order to take an abandoned car you'll have to contact the DMV tell them about the car and also contact the car's original owner. negotiate with the original owner on the price your willing pay for the car get the car registered to you and it's all yours. i'll go look for more info for you.
Damn I would love to have most of them cars... pro'ly for RatRodin' fun. I have my own rusty beast a 57 olds (I miss her). When I get back home its weldin' and grinding time. I Say, get them back on the road first, then fix them up. It doesn't matter what the body looks like just as long as they can cruse the streets again! To all the anti custom car peeps, we can do what ever we want to our cars... If I want disk breaks, Air- ride, Bucket seats and a LS7 in my car, that's my choise.
They didn't see the change coming from the east. nothing fancy, nothing great, just copied the mechanicals from the cars of the west and slowly but surely gave the masses what they wanted and the masses bought them.. Chrome Dreams II, watch the DVD to this album and you'll see how & where it ended.
It's sad about what you mentioned about Detroit. Until the mid to late 70's, maybe mid 80's.......Detroit was ''the'' auto maker.........then one day........it died. How, why, i have no idea. but i see you tube videos of Detroit now.........I wouldn't live there now if it was given to me. Not long ago, the US was one of, if not 'the' best auto makers..........what happened?
@ChaosDemonwolf That's easy. They ( the car exectutives) got sloppy and did not care anymore of the quality of the car.The designs were awful. Fairmont /Tbird? Cougar anyone?? They arrogantly assumed that the kids of the parents would go out and by the same car dad had. After 1974 and into the late 80's , even the 90's the American cars was a joke. No don't even start me on the Unions.....
Lots of nice old Cadillac's. It would be nice to save these old cars but realistically it will cost more to restore these than what you can buy them for already restored. It would be fun to just get them in safe running order and drive them around.
This is a very nice clip the cars make me realise that we are not on earth for very long, we have to love our friends any familyand treat everyone with respect.....
Crush worthless piles of crap like hondas and toyotas...NEVER crush these old legends...These old cars reflect that at one time we were a proud nation and cared about quality...I have a lot of respect for all of the men and women in Detroit that built these fine machines....No robots to build them like today....heart, blood, sweat and tears went into the making of them
The older classic cars are the best. That is why Chrysler and Chevy brought or copied the styled lines in the newer ones(PT Cruisere,HHR,etc...etc...) If I had the money I'd get one and modernize it on the insides,Ya know,CD player, power windows and locks. That would be so cool!
some very nice rusty cars all look restable, 2:05 love the size of the car! 3:18 sad a morris minor just next to it not sure looks like a truphuth not sure though, 3:49 nice looking edsel,
Some of those are a bit past salvage, but a lot would be awesome resto projects. It always bugs me when I see a potentially brilliant car rotting in a field or barn. I saw a split screen VW camper with a bloody tree growing through it once. :(
It's a sad song. all the storys these cars could tell. Who they were with. Where they have been. How they were treated. How they came to life. And now there just left out to rust to death. Very sad.
the video is so good, these cars were beautifully made, and each model stood out on its own, not like the modern cars of today which all look the same, my dad had a 1939 side velve ford v8, which he restored to new condition, it was so good to ride in, would be so great to see these ones restored, the video is wonderful,
I've seen old cars like these rusting away in farmer's fields, and the farmer won't sell them! They'd rather see it rot away instead of giving someone the opportunity to restore it. I think it's a sin.
Why doesn't anyone in the USA realize these cars are worth big money? Here in Europe American cars are rare, many, many boy's dream's could be made true when you would import these rusty beauties. They would be restored and lots of love and money would be put into them. They would live forever.
That VW Bug at 2:20, I've seen someone put an engine in the front of a Beetle only once before; some crazy arse big-block Chev, with a 6/71 blower obscuring the view out the front. Saw someone do the same thing to a '53 Morris minor as well; they both weigh less than a tonne, but the Morris had a Boss 427 hanging out the front of it.Ignore the 14" wide Mickey Ts, wheelie bars and blower, and it almost looks like Granny's car
aw poor cars, borought a tear to my eye to see these once magnificent cars forgotten and rusted up, though some of them look to be in alright condition, restorable condition even
the condition of some of the more neglected cars is sad but somehow mesmerising and beautifull at the same time i am somwhat sad because of there decay but in way they have passed beyond the relm of automobile and into the relm of art and they are keppers of history from a different perspective they are by all respects a dieing bread so they sould be appreciated before they are all gone
Blame the Fuck'n Japs and there Piece of shit Honda's and other 4 banger junk, not the redneck who parked them in the pasture 30 years ago,I love old cars too I really feel your pain and shed a tear for these forgotten automobiles that are now replaced by cheap crap that dies in 5 years and sounds like someone ripp'n ass when you rev'em up
@eh4891 That's easy to say, really, who is to blame? The same people who made the once fine autos. Detroit is to blame that's who. Read my post to ChaoDemonWolf and that will give you an Idea. As for me I love the old cars and yes we should restore them but don't be so quick to blame someone else for our own fuck up. Great Vid by the way!!
Why would I blame THEM??? They sold us what we wanted to buy. Detroit got lazy, and built shit starting in the 70's The Japs built simple reliable inexpensive machines that ran great with only regular maintainence. I have owned both and the Jap cars have always run longest with the least repairs for me. I have a 96 Subaru Impreza 204K on it still runs great . And maintainence is a piece of cake. The domestics are getting better and I am glad of that I hope to buy a Chevy next
2:04, I had a 1953 buick that looked almost exactly like that (a few differences in the front grill and such, but the rust, color, and boat like appearance are the same) and oh how I miss it!
Would love to see all those great cars come back to life. They were made when cars had personalitys of there own not the cookie cutter enviro friendly junk today.
It makes me so sad to see the world's automotive history and heritage rotting away like this. These cars are works of art, and no one word ever scrap a picasso.

Ugly ass cars. We all know they are ugly because GM will never reintroduce it onto the roads - EVER! Why? MOST people want to hurl when they see these things. "Until 60's"?????? Your head hurts!! Cars looked fantastic from the 30's and got better looking in each & every decade after that UNTIL 1972.The 60's was the last great decade of the American automobile, period!
I was just passin through... not really a tourist, but sure not a resident. =] I lived in Los Angeles, my aunt lived in NM, so I made plenty of road trips along that highway.
looks like they have emotions and they feel pain and there crying when seeing them like that :) but yet this will probbaly happen to todays cars within another 10 years or so.
Thank you for this video! Of course, I'd rather see them in shining, working condition but, in spite of their rust, it's still nice to see those art masterpieces of the past!!
it is very sad sees these cars in decomposition, and some in good condition for restoration. e I do not get tired myself to not only see for the cars, but also for music.
though i don't like these old cars, it's sad to see them like this. i can understand everyone whose heart is bleeding because of this but i can't understand why some people treat cars from the 70s-90s like crap because they're "nothing special". in 30 years, people will say, we were out of our minds to let those cars rust away.
ya, they could be saved I amagine but would cost a heck of a lot of dough, u might be able to salvage parts off one to fit on another. on the other hand think how much u could get for scrap metal when the market is high.
I'd love to have a lot of land to keep a bunch of old cars on....even if they didn't run....just to be able to sit in them and think of all the places these cars went....and all the people who owned them. Every old car has stories....we just can't hear them
I have to take depression pills just to get through these videos.

oh thank you for your note,
great observation, the 2 rusty cars still there, amazing! do you live nearby or are you a route 66 tourist?
artzeug 2 years ago
I was just passin through... not really a tourist, but sure not a resident. =] I lived in Los Angeles, my aunt lived in NM, so I made plenty of road trips along that highway.

salutations de Paris!
merci monsieur de ta reponse
I'm a tourist right now, not like route 66, watch:
'' Quai de la Tournelle, etc. ''
by sky25000
on youtube. it's not my video, but you get the feel and charm of Paris.
I'm still impressed that you saw the rusty cars still there on Historic Route 66 !
'' The Cars Drive Rusty Cars '' hit more than 100'000 hits while I was away !

Todays cars could never last as long as these gems....todays cars would be gone in like a year..sure don't build 'em like they used to.

Thank you for this video! Of course, I'd rather see them in shining, working condition but, in spite of their rust, it's still nice to see those art masterpieces of the past!!

I love these cars ;)...I actually don't like new cars, but I like First car-about 1980, or even fewer, specially I like Americans ;)
estoniaman 2 years ago 5
it is very sad sees these cars in decomposition, and some in good condition for restoration. e I do not get tired myself to not only see for the cars, but also for music.

restoring a car is more then change some parts iits a part of your soul you put into that car

3:30 that's a 56 chevy wagon, i have just finished restoring the exact same car, it is black and yellow

though i don't like these old cars, it's sad to see them like this. i can understand everyone whose heart is bleeding because of this but i can't understand why some people treat cars from the 70s-90s like crap because they're "nothing special". in 30 years, people will say, we were out of our minds to let those cars rust away.

Kinda' sad to see 'em that way, but glad you captured them on video. Great job!!

ya, they could be saved I amagine but would cost a heck of a lot of dough, u might be able to salvage parts off one to fit on another. on the other hand think how much u could get for scrap metal when the market is high.

I'd love to have a lot of land to keep a bunch of old cars on....even if they didn't run....just to be able to sit in them and think of all the places these cars went....and all the people who owned them. Every old car has stories....we just can't hear them
