If it's a lip-sync, it's the most perfectly mimed I've ever seen. I'll go with "live vocal." There are noticeable differences from the studio version.

@weaseldoc13 No he is not lipsigning K, you can see that from the fact that when he goes a bit further than the mic hsi voice is not so loud :) And it doesn sound different than the studio version in some points.
@weaseldoc13 Not even close to Lip- syncing!Watch same show him singing Town of Plenty!backing track only!Just notice when he adds little bits and pieces that don't belong on the original and you will then realize he isn't faking it!By the way!Elton never needed to fake it,except for in bed!
@weirdguy75 As a healthcare professional who has seen many illness-related poor complexions I must say his complexion looks quite normal for a caucasion.
@weirdguy75 I guess I don't really see it in this video but I agree with you that drinking/drug use would have been wearing on him by 1988 given that he was within a couple of years of getting sober (something no one ever does if they're having 'too much fun')
He probably feels better now than he did back then :)
@1caninelover I think in interviews he'd said by that time he was no longer really having fun with it. He was not quite as bad yet but he'd gotten to a point in 89 and 90 where he was drinking, snorting, and smoking weed at a constant rate.
@weirdguy75 No, he wasn't having any more fun for sure; he got clean & sober in 1990 and said in interviews that 1989 was the worst year of his life and I know what that's like. I got clean & sober in 1989 and the year preceding it was the worst year of my life! I don't share this often because people can be judgemental even though I haven't had a drink or a line in 21 years but you don't come across as that type; I know what mysery that life is & am glad to be sober :-)
@weirdguy75 Thank you, I don't think you'll ahve to worry; addiction prone people get the combo of genetics and
and upbringing & our brains are really hard wired to go down addiction path from 1st drink/drug, starts years before age 22 so I think you'll be fine. It is a nightmare I wouldn't wish on anyone...as we say in 12-step 'we don't have to fear hell since we have already been there'. I can relate well to what EJ was going through and happy he got clean & sober.
@weirdguy75 I'm sure, given his money, that EJ could easily have ended up like Elvis or MJ, heck I don't think I would be alive today if not for getting sober (most of the crowd I ran with back then have died)
And my instincts are right in sharing...you are nice & non-judgemental :)
How strange, huh, guys? It's definitely NOT the studio-album version, but he's still lip-syncing... Weird - but we love it! :D

I think this was actually February 1989.
Yes, no lip-synching here.

@1caninelover fair enough. I was merely commenting on his frail and pale appearance.

@1caninelover well I'm very glad you over came your nightmare. I'm only 22 so I've not been in your position. Hopefully I never will.

Thank you for posting this video. It is a french show presented by Michel Drucker. Elton John was amazing in this live, as usual.
