  • Hey Star, Do you foresee publication in the near future, meaning in 2012?

  • @Dwvose1 Thank you for your comment. We are looking forward to a great 2012 as we consolidate our proof of concept with independent and international peer reviews. From the team at Star Scientific Limited.

  • Forming pions and muons. NBD, just use a hell of a lot of energy to make them, and then it's not very practical anymore.

  • @hkpopfan4lif3 Thank you for your comment. Star Scientific’s main breakthrough is the ability to produce vast amounts of pions economically, making the energy input/ output issue irrelevant. From the team at Star Scientific Limited.

  • "Here at Star Scientific Limited we have many exciting plans afoot in 2012 ... when we’ll continue to consolidate our proof of concept with independent and international peer review as we move closer to delivering the only truly viable and long-term solution to the world’s current energy predicament." Andrew Horvath, chairman of Star Scientific, on his blog "The Big Picture" 17 Jan 2012.

  • wouldn't the high energy neutron released be dangerous if not properly shielded? Could you see this technology being usable in cars? Also, isn't the helium produced a charged particle? Could you directly harvest charged helium particles just like some aneutronic fusion teams are planning (i.e. LPP). Finally, when will you be demoing a working product/prototype?

  • @enantiomer2000 Thank you for your message and numerous questions. A 1: Safety rules at Star Scientific Limited and all relevant safety measures are stringently met when undertaking all forms of research and testing at our purposed built laboratory. A 2: There is incredible potential to scale the process up or down in the future for use in transportation

  • @enantiomer2000 A 3: While the output of the D+T fusion path is an alpha particle (helium ion), this will pick up electrons from its surroundings and become a neutral helium A 4: Aneutronic fusion holds considerable challenges in its own right. While such avenues of research may beacon in the future, our current focus is muon catalysed fusion A 5: While we are unable to share any specific details in relation to timing, we can say we are pleased with the current status of our research

  • So I understand the principles of muon catalyzed fusion but do you have any white papers that show you have solved the problems of the energy cost of muon production and the problem keeping fuel cool enough to allow chemical bonding of the muon D2 and nuclear tunneling within the lifetime of the muon? Last a read about this in sciam a decade or so ago, the theoretical energy balances and time of reaction weren't working out.

  • Wow.. what can I say??

  • I draw attention to the reply given by Andrew Horvath the Chairman in "Cold Fusion News" to their post of 19 August 2011 regarding Star Scientific

and in particular to the following:

"Star Scientific is happy with its prototypes to date and are designing a pilot plant to show how mass energy production from this system will be possible."

  • im too young to understand, but i liike it

  • Thank you for explaining. I hope to see the outcomes of this.

  • Also How are you keeping the muons from decaying? They are very short lived massive particles.

  • @AmariaIndustries Perfecting the technique to economically produce pions in vast quantities is Star Scientific Limited’s major breakthrough in the generation of sustained muon catalysed fusion and not something we can freely divulge. Thank you for your interest and we look forward to sharing more news about our technology with the broader community in the not too distant future.

  • Also how exactly do you refuel the reactor? And do you fire a stream of muons into the reactor as it is refueled?

  • @AmariaIndustries The Muon Catalysed Fusion Device’s (MCFD) only fuel is deuterium gas. The gas is fed into the MCFD and is constantly being replenished. Unlike a fission reactor there is no separate ‘refuelling’ process that requires the MCFD to stop.

  • In regards to your claims that you have a neutron to steam conversion, googling neutron to steam conversion yields no results and even with said conversion technology you would still yield radioactive waste unless your method of utilizing the energy from neutrons is via the decay of neutrons into a proton and a electron and using the energy from that, then your plan to use neutron to steam technology will indefinitely yield radioactive remnats of whatever your neutron absorbing material you us

  • @AmariaIndustries Thank you for your query. In the muon catalysed fusion process being studied by Star Scientific Limited the neutrons transfer their kinetic (moving) energy to the water molecules. This raises the water’s temperature to the point where it changes to steam.

  • @AmariaIndustries Converting neutrons to steam is currently part of the existing fission-based nuclear power stations (although their process is different to MCF), the technology itself is a very mature and well understood technology in the power generation industry. The team at Star Scientific Limited.

  • I have bad news:

    google stephen horvath's hydrogen fairlane

  • @lexvalesa - For more information please visit stephenhorvath. com. au where the topic you raised is mentioned. The technology behind the hydrogen car was actually very sound; however it was released too soon, without his support at the time; and was later found not to be ideal to power motor vehicles. However that technology did act as the perfect segue into further clean energy research - and ultimately Muon Catalysed Fusion – providing a solid foundation to where we are at today. Thank you

  • Yawn. These scam artists have been flogging this snakeoil for ages. Some mystical, sexy-magical solution to the alpha sticking problem that solves everything! Oh, but we cant tell you what it is, and of course we don't have any peer reviewed publications to show you, just these uber slick marketing videos. Please. What a joke. The pathetic thing is dupes are obviously still taking the bait just as eagerly as ever. Disgusting.

  • @10mintwo dude.... what are you talking about. you couldn't invest in this company if you wanted to i'm sure, so what do they have to gain from you? leave your pessimism at the door brother we don't need that shit right now. we need things of this nature to be supported not spit on

  • @jazzminor a sucker a minute.

  • @10mintwo Time will tell who is going to end up feeling foolish. I am betting on it being you 10mintwo !

  • @2110kop yes, well you certainly sound well informed on the matter. I'm totally holding my breath in anticipation of the outcome! Because, you know, I DEFINITELY haven't seen like 50 scams virtually identical to this one come and go over the past decade alone. Don't worry, I'm sure this one's TOTALLY different this time! lol.

  • @10mintwo In the comments for the video "What is Muon Catalysed Fusion ?" Star Scientific say they need "development approvals and future connections to the grid." This must involve the Australian government. Time will show that here your cynicism was misplaced.

  • @10mintwo I get why one would initially dismiss star scientific as fraudulent because I did. When looking at this more I am convinced otherwise. They do not seek investors. Would you please elaborate more on why you think this is a scam? I want to take an honest look at it and hope I am not missing something.

I imagine successful navigating the process of coming out with this technology while corporations resist it would be almost as difficult as developing it.

  • @10mintwo I am not sure if you have actually looked into this or just immediately dismissed it. It does not seem far fetched that a small company focussed, for years, on pion production alone could solve the problem. I just do not see the scam.

Most energy scams I've seen are hokey. Star Scientific seems grounded in reality. The fact that they are not making a big stink makes sense to me. A lot of people holding power would do nasty things to keep this technology from emerging.

  • @10mintwo It's sad how people desperately want to believe in this crap.

  • @wiz9496 LMHO the way you 10 sec experts rush to diss Star Scientific. E.g. the two geniuses who said on focusfusion org 26 July, that Star Scientific's youtube video "Star Scientific in Action" was all actors, until someone spotted Stephen Horvath the Chief Scientist and Andrew Horvath the Chairman on it and corrected them. Star Scientific is the REAL McCOY, the equipent they show in that video is real and expensive.

  • Helium can be hazardous. Although it is a Nobel Gas and rarely participates in any chemical reactions, it can make you sound like Donald Duck if you inhale it, and if Thugs hear your squeaky voice, they may decide to beat you up for being annoying.

  • How do you intend to produce Muons for less energy than they produce. Keeping in mind that you intend to harvest energy of fast neutrons and the transfer of than energy to create steam to turn a turbine is notoriously inefficient and leaves behind radioactive waste.

  • @1qfman Thank you for your query. Perfecting the technique to economically produce pions in vast quantities is Star Scientific Limited’s major breakthrough in the generation of sustained muon catalysed fusion and not something we can freely divulge. The team at Star Scientific Limited.

  • @starscientific If you have not filed for a patent on this technology why would anyone invest? If you have filed for a patent why can't you disclose any information? It makes you look like a scam.

  • @1qfman Star Scientific Limited is a fully funded private company and seeking no investment. Thank you

  • @1qfman In reference to your second point, neutron to steam energy conversion is a well understood and mature technology. It will be the simplest method to demonstrate the outcome of Star Scientific Limited’s process. We are also actively looking into leading edge ways of harvesting the neutron energy more directly and efficiently. The team at Star Scientific Limited.

  • Still only a part of our total energy supply. Carbon feedstocks are used to create everthing we have as well as power our vehicles. And I have no doubt we are a long long time away from miniaturizing a fusion apparatus to the point of powering a vehicle.

We need fusion energy coupled with wireless power and then the possibilities would truly be limitless.

  • Hello Star Scientific, I am an avid follower of everything you do and read everything there is on you on the Internet. But I was thinking of someone who came to this video for the first time and wanted to find out more. Someone like that might find it useful to find links to the Star Scientific website and to the blog "The Big Picture" by your chairman Andrew Horvath in the videos description; and the same would hold for all your other videos.

  • @OculiUbique - thanks for your query. You are correct - the only emission from Star Scientific Limited's muon catalaysed process is helium which is totally harmless to the environment. Helium is an inert gas which is naturally occurring in the atmosphere and does not accumulate.

  • @starscientific OH i love it, specially cause it is estimated we´ll start running out of helium in about 40 years..... we need it for balloons

... haha silly but i would miss those =p

  • Still the Question Remains Will it blend?

  • 3:48 for the real deal! shotty one in yellow!!!

  • In reply to the last two comments. In the chairman's blog which you can google "The Big Picture by Andrew Horvath" in his July 20 post "The Not-So-Great Debate" he writes "..a number of readers have been asking why Star Scientific isn't making more noise about Muon Catalysed Fusion.

    Keep listerning. We will be"

On the basis of this I'd say it will be all happening soon. So keep reading that blog.

  • I guess the bigger question is, the race to bring fusion to the world begs, WHEN, WHERE, HOW AND BY WHO, that will all be under scrutiny by the worlds leading scientists, ready to pounce on any claim to THE HOLY GRAIL. good luck STAR we are all behind you

  • Has Star Scientific given an indication as to when they expect their method of fusion to be commercially viable? I've had a keen interest in Focus Fusion since it is the cheapest method of nuclear fusion due to the fact that it produces charged particles that can be converted directly into electricity. If Star Scientific's method of fusion will be comercially available in less than 10 years than they would have a competitive advantage over any other fusion method.

  • @Phi1point62 There are a number of factors that need to be addressed first in terms of development approvals and future connections to the grid, however we are working hard to ensure this technology will be shared with the broader community as soon as possible. Thank you and regards, the Star Scientific Team

  • @roynexus6 : Yes I recon there are going to be some unhappy people at the "Carbon Exchange" markets. This is why I think Star Scientific are making these videos to get interest and build up pressure from the general public; and because I think that Star Scientific is just about the most important thing we have right now I am posting comments on as many related youtube videos as I can, to bring them here. I want to see the viewer numbers here go right up !

  • In the blog by the chairman of Star Scientific "The Big Question by Andrew Horvath" on the July 11 post "You Won't Need to Price Carbon if You Don't Emit" he says "MCF unlike some of the renewable energy options we're frantically funding is a technology which could be operational within years -not decades, not centuries... I see abundant affordable clean energy with no emissions as the only satisfactory solution to the global energy crisis - MCF"

  • @2110kop : What will happen to all the people and organizations who stood to make billions of dollars running the "Carbon Exchange" markets ? Probably should be added to "jazzminor's" list above.

  • On the blog by Star Scientific chairman Andrew Horvath for July 6: some facts

Today 1.5 million die each year through energy poverty

The whole of Africa uses less energy than Spain

Forcasts are for a 60% increase in coal use by 2030

of which 97% will come from developing countries esp China and India

We will have more poverty, more inequality, and coal fumes choking all our air.

Other forms of energy will not provide the solution

    Fusion can

  • What I like about Muon Catalysed Fusion is:

That it's explanation is rooted in modern physics.

    There is NO "black magic".

There is NO "I don't understand why it works"

There is NO weird talk about "Zero Point Energy"

    There are NO aliens involved

    Muon Catalysed Fusion is REAL.

  • If you google "twitter" "Andrew Horvath" & "Star Scientific" on July 2 he says "1/4 of humanity 1.6 billion people live without electricity, if we invest in science and look long term MCF can change this". I am conscious of being white middle class and NEVER needing to labour the daylight hours into an exhausted early grave.

For the poorest of us to escape horrendous poverty we ALL need ABUNDANT CHEAP POWER - Muon Catalysed Fusion

  • Market forces will always prevail. In the blog set up by the chairman of Star Scientific Andrew Horvath, which you can find through google, in the post for July 1st "Power Bills set to skyrocket... but do they have to ?" he says "(MCF) could cost as little as 0.9c per killowatt" . Now that is INCREDIBLY CHEAP : anywhere in the World if you look at your energy bill it will be MUCH MORE. All power to Star Scientific and Muon Catalysed Fusion THE HISTORIC EVENT of the 21st CENTURY

  • jazzminor is correct;

Fossil fuel powered electrical generation and the new wind/solar/geothermal/waste/biofuels plant operators stand to lose market share. Both have billions of dollars invested in their respective infrastructures.

The resistance to Muon Catalyzed Fusion power is going to be enormous.

  • water to power the planet using muon fusion....amazing and superb.

  • lol... who would dislike this?

  • @jazzminor Coal miners, petrol companies, other alternative energy companies and hitler.

  • Star Power!!

  • This is amazing!!!!! Well done Star.

  • The power of a star. Just what we need!

  • Def. a game changer if it is real.

  • Amazing and insightful

  • wow this is absolutely incredible ;-) i have heard nothing but amazing things about this technology from what i have studied

  • D-T FUZION IS THE WAY NATURE INTENDED ENERGY TO BE GENERATED OUR PLANET IS BANKING ON THIS

  • Congratulations!

Humanity Thanks You for Your Vision, Commitment & Hard Work...
